Grover Heights is a tiny neighborhood tucked along Interstate 43 on Milwaukee's far north side. Although this pocket of early 20th-century bungalows and duplexes is small, it’s just minutes from some of the Brew City’s biggest recreation and commuter destinations. For prices that are much lower than most of Milwaukee you can buy a house in Grover Heights that’s close to highly rated public schools, north side business districts, enormous Milwaukee County parks and rapid transit service.

Grover Heights’ handful of residential blocks were built up in the early 1900s. Buyers will find bungalows in a variety of styles and levels of move-in readiness. Because of the area's many small multifamily properties, apartment complexes and investor-owned houses, most people rent rather than own in the neighborhood. Prices range from around $60,000 to $100,000. Grover Heights has a median single-family home price of about $90,000. That’s lower than neighboring Rufus King, Lincoln Park and Williamsburg Heights. Five minutes from major Milwaukee County parks
Grover Heights is about five minutes from two recreation destinations along the Milwaukee River: Estabrook Park and Lincoln Park. At Estabrook Park, visitors can enjoy views of a waterfall from a public beer garden or get active on an 18-hole disc golf course and skatepark. The Oak Leaf Trail connects Estabrook Park to the much larger Lincoln Park, where you’ll find everything from a nine-hole golf course and kayak launches to sports fields and playground equipment. The seasonal David F. Schulz Aquatic Center is among Lincoln Park’s most popular amenities thanks to its splash park, water slides, picnic areas and a pool for lap swimming. “It’s great for all ages,” says Anne Stadler Vaillancourt, a founding member of the Friends of Lincoln Park.

A mile from businesses on Capitol Drive and Port Washington Road
You can stop into Home Depot in Grover Heights, but you’ll need to leave the neighborhood for more business life. Less than a mile up Port Washington Road, you’ll find Solly’s Grille, a James Beard Award-winning diner that’s been open since 1936. “They’re famous for their ‘butter burgers,’ and they serve breakfast as well,” Stadler Vaillancourt says. Walmart and Aldi are also less than a mile away, anchoring strip malls along Capitol Drive. Bayshore is also close to home, a popular outdoor shopping mall in Glendale.
