Vogel Par mixes midcentury and modern amenities in Milwaukee

Vogel Park is a neighborhood on the northwest side of Milwaukee that combines a settled, midcentury look with dashes of modern updates. Buyers check out nostalgic houses and condos built several decades ago down the block from a playground built within the past several years. You’re also within walking distance of specialty markets, locally owned businesses and a neighborhood Milwaukee Public elementary school. When it’s time to leave Vogel Park, residents aren’t far from bus lines, bike lanes and busy roads leading to the commuter hubs in East Town.

A blend of mid-1900s homes and condos in northwest Milwaukee

Ranch-style homes line the blocks in Vogel Park, mixed with Cape Cods, bungalows and other popular styles from the mid-1900s. There are also a handful of condos in townhouse and twin home formats for those seeking smaller floor plans and lower maintenance living. Streets of single-family homes and condos are connected to Vogel Park’s local businesses, school and green spaces by extensive sidewalks. "It's a nice environment to raise a family in," says Leah Hunt, a Realtor with Homestead Realty.

Single-family homes typically sell from the lower $100,000s to the upper $200,000s. Condos sell in the lower $100,000s. Vogel Park has a median single-family home price in the lower $200,000s. That’s lower than nearby Lindsay Park and Timmerman West. It’s higher than Long View and Valhalla.

Busing, biking and driving near Timmerman Airport

Commuters can start down Appleton Avenue to get around the greater Milwaukee area. East Town’s central business and cultural district is about 10 miles, or 20 minutes, away. Although most people drive or take Milwaukee County Transit System buses, you can also cycle on bike lanes along Gratosa Drive and 91st Street. Students at flight school and charter plane passengers might head to Milwaukee County’s Timmerman Airport, but the much busier General Mitchell International Airport is 20 miles away for commercial flights.

Neighborhood and choice schools through Milwaukee Public

Vogel Park is part of Milwaukee Public Schools. Through MPS, families can send their kids to assigned neighborhood schools or apply for spots at other neighborhood, charter and specialty options using the district’s choice system. Engleburg School is an elementary option on 91st Street that’s walkable for many students.
