West View
Suburban Neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Milwaukee County 53227

Homes change their look between north and south
While residential lots north of Beloit are rather tightly packed, the southern blocks are more spaced out, giving residents large, verdant backyards. Ranches from the second half of the 20th century are the most common home type here, but a few bungalows, Cape Cods and Craftsman-style abodes are also scattered throughout. Single-family homes and condos can go for as little as $120,000, but properties with larger floor plans, spacious lots and the occasional garage typically cost between $200,000 and $300,000. Front yards in the north are neatly kept and grassy, with minimal shrubbery. However, southern properties are often shaded by full, leafy tree bows and decorated with ornate gardens.Community parks right outside West View’s sphere
With so much green inside the neighborhood, it can come as a surprise that there are no parks inside West View. However, community parks are only a little over 1/2 a mile away. To the south, Alcott Park offers large open fields, a children’s playground, a wading pool and reservable picnic areas. The park is also popular among locals to gather around and watch Fourth of July fireworks. To the east is Euclid Park, another green space offering a wide grass practice field, a tot lot, a basketball half-court and a walking track that runs around the park’s outskirts. While it may be a bit far, residents also appreciate that West View is under a 20-minute drive from Lake Michigan, about 13 miles away.
Nearby West Allis education and extracurriculars

At Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School, students take the lead on what clubs look like, resulting in some unique extracurriculars, like The Lego Robotics Club, The Rock Band Club and The Self Care Club. The school earns a C rating on Niche. High schoolers can attend Central High School, which offers a rigorous AVID and AP program and has a B-minus on Niche.
Downtown in minutes with I-40
With I-41 directly west of the area, residents easily navigate the region and get to downtown Milwaukee, 14 miles away, in 20 minutes. Several Milwaukee County Transit System bus stops can also be found at the borders and center of the neighborhood. West View is also less than 10 miles from Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport.Dives for foodies and fish lovers
A handful of unassuming eateries with wide-ranging cuisines surround West View. At Top Corned Beef, fresh, savory meat keeps patrons returning for flavorful Reuben and Italian beef sandwiches. Good Soup serves an ever-changing lineup of hearty soups, from French onion to alphabet, alongside a sandwich of the day. International eats include Taqueria y Chimichangas Ashley, a Mexican joint with a full buffet and bar, and Curry Hut, which offers a lengthy menu of traditional Indian entrees, breads, soups and sweets. However, when locals want a homecooked meal, they grab groceries at Piggly Wiggly or Target 1 1/2 miles away, west of I-41. Along its fringe, West View also features a unique locally owned business called The Fish Factory, where aquatic aficionados and novices alike can browse a colorful collection of fish. Unexpectedly, the store also has become somewhat of a popular hangout spot. “We ship from about 30 different countries, so we get a bunch of unique fish that you don’t normally see,” says Tyler Banach, whose father, Stephen Banach, has run the shop since 1986. “People like the ambiance and energy here. They get to see things that they really haven’t seen before.”
