West View, a southern Milwaukee community off Interstate 41
West View is a Milwaukee neighborhood near the southern suburbs of West Allis, Greenfield and Greendale. Interstate 41 passes by this pocket of midcentury homes, connecting residents to the many shopping centers, parks and trail systems encircling the Brew City. Whether you’re looking for a well-kept rambler or a lower priced condo, West View balances the quiet and convenience of a bedroom community with the more local charms of walkable local businesses and schools.
Single-family homes from the mid-1900s and lower cost condos
West View’s residential blocks were largely built in the mid-20th century. Many of the single-family homes here are the popular styles of that era, including ranch-style houses, bungalows and Cape Cods. Sidewalks connect these blocks of homes to townhouse-style condos in a couple of small communities. Single-family homes sell from the lower $200,000s to the lower $400,000s. Condos sell from the mid-$100,000s to the lower $200,000s. West View has a median single-family home price in the lower $300,000s. That’s on par with nearby Alcott Park and Euclid Park, but lower than Greenfield. It’s higher than Pleasant Valley and Brosen Manor.

Interstate 41 takes commuters to Milwaukee’s major employers
Interstate 41 makes up West View’s western border, connecting you to commuter hubs across Milwaukee. You might head just past the freeway to reach industrial and medical employers near the Milwaukee Rehabilitation Hospital at Greenfield. Starting on I-41, you have a roughly 10-mile drive to East Town. That might take 15 minutes to 40 minutes, depending on the time of day. Although West View is fairly car dependent, you can catch Milwaukee County Transit System buses along the neighborhood’s main roads.
Local businesses near West Allis and Greendale’s commercial hubs
Specialty businesses cluster around the junction of Beloit Road, 92nd Street and Oklahoma Avenue, including The Fish Factory. “We ship from about 30 different countries, so we get a bunch of unique fish that you don’t normally see,” says Tyler Banach, whose father has run the shop since 1986. “People like the ambiance and energy here. They get to see things that they really haven’t seen before.” You'll also find beloved local restaurants here, including:
Taqueria y Chimichangas Ashley’s Restaurant, a casual Mexican eatery with a buffet
George Webb Restaurant, a Wisconsin diner chain known for breakfast fare and burgers
Caterina’s Ristorante, an Italian restaurant with an ornate wooden bar and decor
You’re less than 10 minutes from much busier commercial districts, including a stretch of strip malls and big-box stores along 108th Street and Greendale’s Southridge Mall.

Surrounded by Milwaukee County’s parks and trail systems
Although it doesn’t have its own Milwaukee County park, several recreation destinations are close to home. Alcott Park and Euclid Park are each less than a mile away, classic community parks where kids can run around playgrounds and play on sports courts. Alcott’s seasonal splash pad gets busy through the warmer months. Much larger recreation hubs are less than 10 minutes away, including Greenfield Park and McCarty Park. Both have busy seasonal swimming pools, peaceful waterfront walking trails and connections to the extensive Oak Leaf Trail system. Greenfield is known for its public golf course, and you might choose McCarty to play pick-up or youth league baseball games.
