Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired single-family homes
New Traditional homes with Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired exterior design details are common in all Huntington subdivisions. Some, like the Reserve at Huntington and Huntington Gardens, are gated, but most are not. “Most of these communities have large lot sizes, which is unique for the area,” Cooper says. Prices run anywhere from about $550,000 to north of $1 million, depending on the location. “There’s a lower-priced one, one that’s medium-priced and one that’s very expensive. The subdivisions vary like that,” Cooper says. Typically, prices in the gated areas are higher. Proximity to Huntington’s lake also elevates prices – and raises the risk of flooding, though the entire neighborhood falls within a flood zone.Outdoor recreation at Huntington Park, Miramar Regional Park
Huntington Park is divided in two by Bass Creek Road. While both sides have playgrounds and grassy fields with shaded sidewalks, Huntington Park South also features a tennis court. The southern park backs up to Coral Cove Elementary’s baseball field and basketball court. Miramar Regional Park is 3 miles away. The 173-acre park has several athletic fields, playgrounds and an aquatics complex. The park holds events like open-air concerts, the annual Easter Eggstravaganza in April and the annual Kite Festival in March.Broward County’s Everglades High offers specialty programs
Broward County Public Schools, including Coral Cove Elementary, Glades Middle and Everglades High, serve Huntington students. The elementary school earns a B-plus from Niche. The middle and high schools get A-minuses. Everglades High offers application-based academies, like the Fire Academy and the FBI/Law Enforcement Academy. Everglades also offers the college prep-focused Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education Diploma program. A-rated Somerset Academy, a tuition-free public charter school for kindergarten through eighth grades, is less than 5 miles from Huntington.Quick access to Interstate 75, Florida’s Turnpike, Miramar Parkway
Interstate 75 runs north-south past the west side of Huntington, while Florida’s Turnpike curves around the neighborhood’s south end. To the north, Miramar Parkway is a main east-west road through town. Broward County Transit provides bus transport from stops on the parkway to destinations like Memorial Hospital Miramar and Aventura Mall. The hospital is less than 4 miles northwest; the mall is closer to the coast, about 20 miles east. The closest airport is Miami International. More than 20 miles south, it’s about a 30-minute drive, depending on traffic. Huntington's CAP Index crime score is 1 out of 10, well-below the national average of 4.Shopping, dining in Miramar Town Center, commercial areas nearby
Miramar Town Center is a busy downtown district less than 5 miles from Huntington. It’s home to the Miramar Public Library and the Miramar Cultural Center & ArtsPark, an art gallery and performance venue. Family-owned La Famiglia’s has been a popular spot for classic Italian food for nearly 40 years, while Freze N Nitro Creamery is a newer favorite for frozen desserts. Shopping centers on Miramar Parkway have more dining options, like Rosalia’s Kitchen, known for its Mediterranean menu, as well as banks, retailers and convenience stores. In the Monarch Lakes strip mall immediately north of Huntington, there’s a Publix.
