A gated section of Miramar surrounded by amenities galore

In Silver Shores, a trip to Target, lunch at Chick-fil-A and an afternoon at the park are always around the corner. This area of Miramar includes a couple of gated subdivisions, both surrounded by all kinds of amenities. “Silver Shores has so much to offer,” says Miriam Sanchez, a local Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. “It’s close to major highways, it has very good schools and it’s very family oriented. And restaurants and shopping are so close.”

Modern homes with Mediterranean influences

This area features both the gated Silver Shores and Silver Isles developments. The houses in the two neighborhoods were built from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Options range between 1,500 and 4,200 square feet, but they all have Mediterranean styling, including terra cotta roofs and stucco exteriors. Garages are standard, too. The neighborhoods’ grassy lots come dotted with palm trees and range from one-tenth to one-fifth of an acre, some with lake views. Many homes here sell for between $600,000 and $865,000, though some of the waterside houses top $1 million. “The prices are higher than other areas, but you usually get more square footage, too,” says local Realtor Karena Clarke of Elite Realty Partners, Inc., who serves the South Florida area.

Residents can slide to Silver Shores Park for recreation

The Silver Shores subdivision has a clubhouse complete with a playground, pool, fitness center, tennis court and fishing pier on one of the neighborhood’s lakes. Silver Shores Park is nearby, too. This space includes a covered playground with a sand floor, a sand volleyball court, a pair of basketball and tennis courts, and two multipurpose fields. The 173-acre Miramar Regional Park is right around the corner. This is a popular spot for locals, says Jeanette Pressman, a local Realtor with Dezer Platinum Realty who has 10 years of real estate experience. Miramar Regional Park has a dog park, a fitness station, a skate park, an aquatic center with a pool that’s open year-round and a 5,000-seat amphitheater. “They do concerts and stuff like that over there,” Pressman says.

Several shopping options, right down the street

Errands can be easy with a home here. The neighborhood is down 160th Avenue from a pair of shopping centers: Fountains of Miramar and Shoppes at Silver Isles. The former features a Home Depot, Marshalls and Ross Dress for Less, while the latter has a Citibank location, Silver Isles Cleaners and Kool Kuts, a hair salon. Locals can travel just about a mile farther to reach a plaza that includes both a Target and Winn-Dixie. There are plenty of restaurants around these stores, too. Miga’s Steakhouse, in the Shoppes at Silver Isles, is a popular one, in part for the empanadas. Chains in the area range from Chick-fil-A to Benihana. Also, the area's crime score of 2 is significantly better than the national average, according to the CAP Index.
