Clinton’s housing stock has a median year of construction of 1997, and the median lot size is over an acre, allowing residents to have large yards, woodlands and cattle or horse farms. The Shadow Mountain Estates subdivision features newer homes within a homeowner’s association, surrounded by towering mountains. Most Clinton residents own their homes, with slightly lower prices than nearby Missoula.

Highly rated public schools

The Clinton Elementary School District has limited school choice, with many grade levels closed to open enrollment. The Missoula High School District allows open enrollment, with in-district and out-of-district transfer applications processed through a lottery system. Younger students can attend Clinton Elementary School, which serves pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Seventh and eighth grades move on to Clinton Junior High. Sentinel High serves students in grades nine through 12. Clinton Junior High and Sentinel High are both highly rated.

This community has a rural atmosphere. Many residents own horses and have barn facilities. Clinton is also home to two equestrian riding training centers. There is a limited shopping and dining scene. However, local establishments keep residents from needing to venture out too far. Poor Henry’s Bar Cafe is a neighborhood tavern with pub food, while the Clinton Market is a locally owned grocery store.

  • Go cross-country skiing on 12 miles of trails at Lubrecht Experimental Forest, or drive 40 minutes to reach the slopes at the Montana Snowbowl.

Commuting to Missoula for work and the airport

Clinton is approximately 20 minutes southeast of Missoula, making it easy to access shopping, dining and a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Missoula is also the region’s center for medical services and employment, with institutions like Providence St. Patrick Hospital and the University of Montana. The community is situated along U.S. Interstate 90 and U.S. Highway 12, making it easily accessible to nearby towns. However, there is no reliable public transportation system in Clinton. By driving approximately 25 minutes northwest on I-90, you can reach the Missoula Montana Airport for domestic flights to major cities.
