Several shops and restaurants are on the edges of the neighborhood, surrounding the residential areas. The brewery hosts several fundraisers and frequently collaborates with local nonprofits. Cruz Tacos is a casual, walk-up Mexican restaurant on Broadway Street, popular for its burritos and tacos. Several parks in the neighborhood offer plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors in Missoula. Westside Park on Sherwood Street is a popular spot for families to gather thanks to its all-abilities playground. The playground opened in 2022 and includes a climbing structure nicknamed Mount Lowell and a large net for children to climb and play on. The park also has a multi-sport court where visitors can play basketball or four square. The Riverfront Trail passes through the neighborhood and is a great spot for biking and walking along the Clark Fork River. Residents can take the trail east into downtown or cross the California Street Bridge to connect to more trails south of the river.

These typically have covered front porches where residents can sit and enjoy their morning coffee. There are a few two-story National-style homes as well. These single-family homes typically cost between $300,000 and $600,000. There are some condos and townhouses in the neighborhood that cost between $200,000 and $400,000. There are also some manufactured homes west of Russell Street that cost between $50,000 and $140,000. Mature trees line the streets, providing shade during the spring and summer and covering the ground in orange and yellow leaves in the late fall. Most streets in the neighborhood have sidewalks, making it easy for residents to walk to school, a park or a restaurant.

Students in Westside might attend Lowell Elementary School, which receives a C-plus rating from Niche. Porter Middle School is rated a B-minus, and Hellgate High School receives an A-minus. Westside is conveniently located near downtown Missoula and there are several options for getting around the city. "It's walkable, which is what a lot of people like. You can walk to school, the river or the grocery store. You can bike downtown," says Tonda Richards, a Realtor with RE/MAX All Stars who has sold multiple homes in the neighborhood. Biking and walking through the area is easy, thanks to the Riverfront Trail and the city sidewalks. Multiple bus routes pass through the community. Route 11 runs along Broadway Street and can take residents east to downtown or west to the airport, while Route 3 provides access to Northside. For those who prefer to drive, Broadway Street gives locals a 4-mile drive to Missoula Montana Airport and a 2-mile drive downtown. The neighborhood is also conveniently located just west of Providence St. Patrick Hospital.
