Suburbs next to lots of park space

Folks in Claremont enjoy abundant outdoor space while only having a 15-mile commute into the city. "Neighboring suburbs might have more historic charm, but the communities here are well-maintained and have a convenient location," says Hanna Rudzinsky, Realtor for 4 years in Mobile with PropTek LLC. Manicured suburban communities sit just south of Medal of Honor Park, an expansive outdoor space with amenities like a huge playground, hiking trails and athletic fields. Sidewalks give excellent walkability along tree-lined streets, leading to wide driveways and decent-size yards accompanying 1980s ranch-style homes that can be found for around $250,000. Larger homes can be found on spacious cul-de-sac lots for about $400,000. Students attend Mobile County Schools, including Murphy High, which is on the Department of the Interior's National Register of Historic Places. Residents can run convenient errands with Publix and Walmart Neighborhood Market less than a mile from most homes and a selection of casual spots to grab a bite. Along with a quick commute, long-distance travel is convenient with a 6-mile drive to Mobile Regional Airport.

Ranch-style homes on manicured streets

Claremont's suburban communities have wide streets, well-kept sidewalks and trim lawns. "People can find decently priced homes compared to stately, older suburbs in Mobile," says Rudzinsky. Architecture calls back to the 1980s, with many ranch-style and split-level homes. Most three-bedroom ranch-style homes with mid-size to large yards can be found for about $250,000. Larger homes reside on cul-de-sacs with spacious lawns, like a four-bedroom Colonial-inspired ranch-style for $400,000 with an ornate front drive and tropical landscaping.

Kids thrive at Medal of Honor Park

Medal of Honor Park is one of Mobile's most popular outdoor activity spots, and it sits just north of Claremont's residential communities. People come to this expansive park for almost any activity they can think of. Kids climb on the playground and cool off on the splash pad on a hot summer day. Tennis players come here for neighborly matches, and local rec leagues play games on the athletic fields. Outdoor lovers lace up their boots to hike on miles of wooded trails, and pup parents bring their four-legged friends for a game of fetch at the dog park.
