Mobile suburb poised for growth
Gorgas' late 20th-century houses are a reminder of its past and a promise of its future growth. Between the 1940s and the 1990s, Gorgas grew into a thriving suburb but experienced a low economic period where homes fell into disrepair. However, Realtor Eddie Sumerlin with Revitalize Realty LLC recognizes the neighborhood's growth. "If you look at the history in the area, it's really interesting," Sumerlin says. Sumerlin has sold homes in the area for half a decade. "There are some beautiful homes in the neighborhood but also some blight. But the neighborhood has a ton of potential there, and that development is already happening."
Budget-friendly homes draw new residents to Gorgas
Buyers looking to buy in Gorgas will find many shingle-style cottages ranging between $55,000 and $125,000 and brick ranch-style homes ranging between $125,000 and $135,000. Spacious yards make the neighborhood pet-friendly, and many homes feature large driveways. The yards typically have mature oak trees to provide shade. Realtor and associate broker Jennifer Ballard with Bellator Real Estate notes that its budget-friendly prices draw buyers, promoting its growth. "There are a lot of good investment opportunities here," Ballard says. Ballard has nearly a decade of experience. "The cost of living here, along with new industries coming to the city, is making these suburbs super desirable. Mobile, as a whole, is experiencing massive growth."
