Lourdes has quiet waterfront homes
Lourdes features a mix of established homes, renovated properties and waterfront residences with private docks. Houses sprawl through the land, tucked away under tall oaks and pines. Most homes are ranch-style or cottages costing between $62,000 and $200,000. Larger homes or homes on the waterfront typically cost between $275,000 and $500,000. Prices increase with the amount of water frontage or renovations completed. The neighborhood also features lots and teardowns for sale, priced between $70,000 and $120,000 for lots away from the river. Lots on the Dog River cost between $265,000 and $575,000. "The river occasionally closes for bacteria levels after storms, but that usually doesn't last long." McNally Park is less than 2 miles from the neighborhood, offering athletic fields and a grassy lawn with picnic areas. The park also has a boat ramp and kayak launch. Trimmier Park offers youth athletic fields and a playground. Anglers, boaters and kayakers may also enjoy Dog River Park, 8 miles away. In addition to the quiet fishing piers and boat ramps, the park also has a colorful playground.
Residents with boats may moor their vehicles at the Dog River Marina, Dockside Marina, or Mobile Yacht Club. The Mobile Yacht Club was founded in 1847 and is the second-oldest private boating and sailing club in the United States. The clubhouse has a full-service bar, restaurant, bathhouse and pool. Mobile Yacht Club also hosts numerous events, like the Dauphin Island Regatta.
