Explore USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park

Water recreation is a beloved pastime for Rosedale residents. Only 2 miles from the glistening waters of Mobile Bay, residents can go fishing, admire wildlife, gaze at the gorgeous sunsets or step aboard the USS Alabama, a World War II battleship that was retired in 1947. While there, they can jump over to USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park to explore 30 aircraft and other military vehicles. Or head 4 miles to Dog River Marina, the city’s largest marina, where boaters can peruse various accessory and supply shops, such as West Marine. They can also fuel up or get repairs done before taking to the seas. While here, visitors can stroll the docks and grab a bite at the Mobile Yacht Club. Head to Dog River Landing to drop a kayak or canoe into the winding Dog River or cast a line out to reel in a variety of fish. While life on the water is the main attraction here, Rosedale is also home to Doyle Park. Sprinkled with azaleas, residents can hop on the fitness trail, hit the football fields, let the kids play at the aviation-themed playground or tour the park’s markers identifying the types of planes seen at Brookley Aeroplex next door. Owned by the Mobile Airport Authority, the thriving multi-use industrial complex houses the Mobile International Airport, an Academy of Craft Training for high school students and historical markers that tell the tale of Alabama’s aviation history.
