Ranch styles dominate Venetia's housing market
Most homes in Venetia are ranch-style builds with prices ranging from $125,000 to $375,000, depending on their size and how close they are to the river. Some homes rest on quiet, narrow roads where the only traffic is residential, and others are close to Interstate 10 and may experience some noise. Long driveways place the homes on busier streets away from the hectic traffic. Sidewalks are not prevalent in the area, but large yards allow for entertainment and recreation. Venetia residents know to prepare for hurricane season. The threat of storm surge on the Dog River puts Venetia at risk for flooding, and some houses were built on pillar foundations to prevent water damage.Dog River and Park provide outdoor activities
Dog River Park is busiest on the weekends, and the biggest draw is the river. The park has a boat launch onto the river and plenty of onshore spots to fish. “I know some avid fishermen and they’ll tell you it’s some of the best fishing in the area,” Wilson says. There is also a playground and a ball field. Close by is PFC Howard Johnson II Park, which is home to a pair of baseball fields. The park also features large paved and unpaved walking paths as well as playground equipment for children. The Mobile County Soccer Complex is home to many local youth and adult league soccer matches.Public education in Venetia
Children in Venetia may enter the Mobile County Public School System, beginning at Kate Shepard Elementary, which earns a C-plus rating on Niche. Students may then head to Pillans Middle School and Ben C. Rain High School, which both have C-minus ratings on Niche. Students may study or attend after-school programs at the local Parkway Branch Library.Commuting from Venetia
