A growing community

"Feels like home" is the motto for Monclova Township. The community has a rural vibe and offers top-rated schools, peaceful preserves and nearby retail amenities. This quiet neighborhood is home to sections of older homes, some dating back to 1900, as well as new builds. Wide, tree-lined streets with sidewalks meander throughout the neighborhood, showcasing stately homes and manicured lawns. "Monclova feels like country living, but it is still close to amenities," says Jeannie Medlin, a Realtor with RE/MAX Preferred Associates who has worked in the area for ten years.

Annual Apple Butter Festival

Every first weekend in October, locals and out-of-state travelers flock to MacQueen Orchard's Apple Butter Festival for rows of food stands, live entertainment, and, of course, apple butter. The orchard sits at the northern end of Monclova and offers apple and pumpkin picking in the fall. Locals can buy fresh goods year-round at the farm's market and bakery.

Township is close to major highways

McLaren St. Luke's General Hospital is a 2.5-mile drive on local streets. Interstates 475 and 80 intersect at the northern border. Downtown Toledo is 19 miles north on Interstate 475. The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority bus makes a couple of stops in the community, increasing accessibility to downtown and outlying areas. Toledo Express Airport is within the Monclova boundary and is a 13-mile drive on State Route 65. The airport neighbors the 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio National Guard, which makes its presence known with monthly training flyovers. According to Medlin, the jets are loud, but locals — including herself — don't seem to mind.
