The Pride of the Pascack Valley
Nicknamed “the Pride of the Pascack Valley,” Montvale – and neighboring Park Ridge – are close not just to New York City, but also to the New York state line. Embracing the scenery of Lake Tappan, and just a few minutes away from the Garden State Parkway, Montvale offers its residents the blissful serenity of living among North Jersey’s picturesque woodlands as well as ease of access to the big city
Colonial houses, Victorians and split-levels
Realtor Bob Dzienis of eXp Realty says, “Montvale is one of the great towns in the Pascack Valley of Bergen County, from its beautiful homes to some great amenities, excellent schools, and ease of commutability to New York City and Hoboken. People love living in Montvale, and it’s got everything to do with the real estate here.” Montvale and Park Ridge each have their origins in the suburbanization of the 1890s and share a history of growth over the next several decades. Montvale’s past has left an indelible impact on its housing stock, whose selections vary from English and Dutch-style colonial houses to Victorian residences and more modern split-levels. Dzienis adds, “Homes don’t tend to be on top of each other, and you have open space here. The median home values tend to be around $620,000.”

A new Wegman's and Ridge Diner
Unlike many of its neighboring towns, Montvale offers both peaceful seclusion and an active retail scene. Dzienis says, “One of the appealing factors of Montvale is the fact that taxes are quite reasonable for Bergen County. There’s a lot of amenities here for you: a Wegman’s just opened here, sitting in a great shopping development with great restaurants and salons.” Park Avenue serves as this town’s retail hub, with local fixtures such as the old-timey Krauszer’s Food Store and the 70s-themed Ridge Diner sitting on the corner. For a sweet treat, locals and visitors alike frequent Mochimoly, a bakery specializing in donuts and hot dogs.
