Golf, lakeside living and amenities form the core of Bella Collina

Life at Bella Collina centers around golf and Central Florida’s lakes. This 1,900-acre gated community west of Orlando is situated on Lake Apopka, one of the largest in the state. The community broke ground in 2004 and features a mix of condos, smaller properties, custom-built estates and those that back onto the lake. Some homes have large lots and private docks for fishing and boating. Residences that back onto the smaller Lake Siena are closer together but also have private docks. Properties can also face the community’s golf course, designed by PGA legend Sir Nick Faldo. The locale offers residents numerous amenities and has quick access to local attractions and schools. “It's kind of like Tuscany in Florida,” says Nathan Alexander, a Realtor with Keller Williams Classic Realty. “It's got hills, so it's a different feel than most of Florida.”

Higher-priced homes and condos in an HOA-controlled community

According to Alexander, Homes by the golf course can range from $900,000 to $2.5 million, while those on the lakes can run between $2 million and $10 million. Condo units cost between $375,000 and $500,000. Styles include Mediterranean Revivals, New Traditional and Postmodern. Alexander notes that HOA fees are due quarterly and monthly, and the association provides residents with cable, internet, trash and maintenance of the common areas.

Bella Collina has several gated entrances and a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4 out of 10. Flood Maps from the Federal Emergency Management Agency show a slight flooding risk from the lakes.

Bella Collina’s golf course and amenities

Bella Collina’s golf course, designed by Masters champion Sir Nick Faldo, has a 7,700-yard layout and an academy but requires a membership. The community’s club also has a spa, pool, sports courts and event spaces. The Clermont National Golf Course is nearby and features a 6,900-yard par 71 layout and a practice area.

Lake Apopka allows for boating and has multiple hiking and horseback riding trails along its shorelines. The Minneola Athletic Complex has baseball diamonds, multipurpose fields and sports courts. Truskett Park has a fishing dock, picnic area and access to local trails. Lake Florence Park has a playground and a pier. Orlando’s theme parks and attractions are over 20 miles southeast.

Public and private school options

Pupils can start at Grassy Lake Elementary and continue to East Ridge Middle School, both with B-plus grades on Niche. Lake Minneola High School has an A-minus ranking and allows students to have dual enrollment for college credit. A-plus graded Montverde Academy, directly north of the community, has pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade programs.

Community dining and shopping on Route 50

The 19th hole at Bella Collina’s clubhouse serves breakfast, salads and sandwiches. Cucina, available only to club members, offers burgers, steaks and seafood. Outside the community, restaurants can be found along Route 50 and include a mix of chains and local spots. Troy’s Cuban Deli serves sandwiches and traditional Cuban dishes. Dim Sum House offers authentic Chinese cuisine and has lunch specials.

Route 50 also includes grocery stores such as Publix and Key Foods, as well as big-box stores such as Costco and The Home Depot. Orlando Health South Lake Hospital is 7 miles southwest.

Connections to Orlando’s Central Business District and Orlando International

The LakeXPress bus service runs along Route 50 to Winter Garden and Mascotte. Route 50 also connects to Florida’s Turnpike and Orlando’s Central Business District. Bella Collina also has a helicopter pad. Orlando International Airport is 33 miles southeast.
