It’s a great fishing and recreational park,” Rollins says. Drift Inn Landing is marina where people can launch their boats onto the water, go fishing or grab a bite to eat. People can also launch at the By The Lake Boat Ramp where they can see panoramic views of the Caddo Lake Historic Drawbridge, a local landmark built in 1914. Students in the area go to Caddo Parish Public Schools, which earns a B rating according to Niche. Schools include Mooringsport Elementary School, Herndon Magnet School for middle school, plus Caddo Parish Magnet High School. The elementary school has a C rating, the middle school earns a B-plus grade, while the high school has an A-plus rating on Niche. The high school features unique courses covering subjects from piano to archery.
Library and community events
At Shreve Memorial Library - Mooringsport Branch, the community has abundant activities: story times, movies and even meetups with Santa Claus. The community also has events from a free Thanksgiving dinner to the vibrant Mooringsport Cypress Festival: a parade, live music and art vendors.

About 18 miles from downtown Shreveport, residents of Mooringsport-Brian can easily commute to the big city via Louisiana Highway 1 by car since there’s no public transit in the area. The eatery is best known for its burgers, which patrons can eat while watching boats glide across Lake Caddo. Otherwise, residents can make the drive to Ma and Pops, which serves comfort foods in a casual interior with booth seating.
