Moreno Valley Unified School District serves the community

Ramona City Unified School District has open enrollment. Students here often start at Ramona Elementary School, which has a C grade from Niche. Sunnymead Middle School rates a C-minus, and Moreno Valley High School scores a B-minus. Shops and restaurants along Sunnymead Boulevard

Sunnymead Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in the city, runs through the neighborhood. Many shopping plazas, hotels, businesses and restaurants are along the road, including the popular diners Black Bear and Brandon’s. The area also abuts several big retail plazas, such as Rio Rancho Super Mall and Sunnymead Towne Center, both of which have grocery stores and dozens of eateries. Perris Boulevard is another busy road on the east side of the neighborhood, home to more businesses, shopping plazas and the popular Mexican restaurant Taqueria 2 Potrillos. There's a Food 4 Less grocery on the southern end of the neighborhood. Moreno Valley Mall and big-box retailers such as Walmart are about 3 miles west of the community.

Cultural events in Moreno Valley

Each spring, the city organizes the MoVal Multicultural & Art Festival to celebrate its diverse community members. The event includes cultural performances at the Civic Center Amphitheater, food and fun activities. Other celebrations include a Juneteenth festival featuring local crafts vendors, food booths and live music, and an annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for the winter holidays.

Easy access to cities in the Inland Empire

The area is close to state Route 60 and Interstate 215. Riverside and San Bernardino are both less than 20 miles away via I-215, and Ontario International Airport is about 25 miles northwest of Moreno Valley. Served by the Metrolink commuter rail, Moreno Valley/March Field Station is about 7 miles west, and Riverside Transit Agency has bus stops throughout the city. Riverside University Health System Medical Center is about a block away from the neighborhood, and Kaiser Permanente Moreno Valley Medical Center is 5 miles east.

“We just have a lot of recreational space,” Nol says. “There are about 30 parks all around and within the city.” Canyon Springs Little League practices and plays at Sunnymead Park, which has three softball fields on the northern side of the neighborhood. Located right by the community’s grocery store, Bayside Park has a sandbox playground, a basketball court and a walking path. The city is home to the 8,800-acre Lake Perris State Recreation Area, which offers splendid trails and natural space for hiking and camping. In addition, people can go swimming, fishing and boating at Perris Reservoir.

Environmental factors
