Willow Springs has custom homes on the golf course and abundant outdoor recreation

Roads wind past red rock outcroppings in Willow Springs, a Rocky Mountain foothills community about 3 miles from Morrison and 40 miles southwest of Denver. The area includes several subdivisions where some homes line the fairways of Red Rocks Country Club and others sit on a few acres on the outskirts. “Locals enjoy stunning views, easy access to Denver, and a close-knit, friendly community with a laid-back Colorado vibe. [It’s] suburban with space, and feels like you are away from it all, yet still minutes to anything you need,” says Kathleen Hanvey, a broker with Red Rocks Team at Your Castle Real Estate since 2020. Outdoor concert series and annual holiday events organized by neighborhood associations generate opportunities for social gathering and connection.

Recreation from Red Rocks Country Club to Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Red Rocks Country Club is a private golf course that also has social memberships for access to the pool, fishing pond and bike-friendly trails. Golf membership holders can use the course and all non-golf amenities. According to Hanvey, the subdivisions of Willowbrook and Willow Springs share access to an 810-acre mountain park that is popular. “People love the easy access to everything outdoors, including hiking, biking, and horseback riding on our private open space trails,” she says.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a popular outdoor concert venue with public trails, about 3 miles away. The Red Rocks Trail leads to Matthews/Winters Park and creates a 6-mile loop. At Bear Creek Lake Park, people can launch their paddleboards and kayaks, and anglers can cast lines from fishing piers.

Custom houses and townhouses from golf course to multi-acre properties

Custom-built homes are common throughout the area. “Most homes are unique with their own mountain contemporary style. No two homes are alike in Willowbrook and Willow Springs,” Hanvey says. “Willowbrook homes all sit on at least an acre, and most homes in Willow Springs are spread out with fantastic views of the foothills and/or downtown Denver.” The communities of Lyons Ridge and Montane have many New Traditional homes with Craftsman influence. Millennium mansions are common throughout the neighborhood, some modern and others in a chalet style. Many homes near the golf course have less than an acre of property, and their prices range from about $840,000 to $2.3 million. Homes in surrounding communities, where some properties sprawl over an acre, can range in price from about $1.3 million to $5.4 million, depending on home and property size. Townhouses are also in the area, with prices from around $700,000 to just over $1 million.

Local restaurants in Morrison, shopping at Southwest Plaza and grocers

Many locally owned restaurants and bars are on Bear Avenue in Morrison, including The Cow, a casual café with American fare, and Morrison Holiday Bar. Willow Springs does not have a designated shopping and dining district, but it is within a 10-mile drive of various shopping areas, such as Southwest Plaza, which has a Dillard’s. The Fort is a replica of an adobe palace that serves wild game and Spanish fusion cuisine. Shopping centers with King Soopers and Safeway are on Belleview Avenue.

Jeffco schools and courses with college credit-earning potential

Willow Springs is in the attendance area of the Jeffco Public Schools district, which offers school choice. Niche gives Red Rocks Elementary School an A-minus grade and scores Carmody Middle School a B overall. Both schools are where students may go before Bear Creek High School, which earns a B-plus. High schoolers can take concurrent and dual enrollment courses through Red Rocks Community College and the University of Colorado Denver, giving them the chance to earn college credit.

Highways to Morrison, Denver and the Denver International Airport

State Highway 8 links Willow Springs to Morrison. U.S. Highway 285 runs west and east through the community and connects it to Denver. State Highway 470 also ties the area to the capital city. Denver International Airport, which offers direct flights globally, is located about 40 miles away and accessible via CO-470.
