Mounds View is a serene suburb north of the Twin Cities

Buyers looking for a well-connected Twin Cities suburb often turn to Mounds View for its blend of open space and convenience. The community is close to major highways, allowing drivers to reach Minneapolis and Saint Paul quickly, and houses often sit on larger lots than you’ll find in suburbs closer to downtown. A strong lineup of parks and sports facilities adds to the appeal, while events like Mounds View Festival in the Park boost community spirit.

What buyers often pay for ramblers, split-level houses and townhomes

Mounds View's housing market consists mostly of ramblers, split-level homes and traditional story-and-a-half houses from the mid- to late 1900s. Prices often range from less than $100,000 to the mid-$500,000s. There are also a handful of townhomes and duplexes that can sell between the upper $100,000s and the mid-$400,000s. Mounds View tends to be less expensive than neighboring cities like Blaine and New Brighton. Many homes have lots of a quarter acre or more, which appeals to people moving from parts of the Twin Cities with less space. “Everyone grew up in little lots around the downtown [in Minneapolis]... they wanted to get a slice of heaven outside the city,” says Jim Diffley, a Realtor with Edina Realty.
