Walkability and community keep residents loving Downtown Muncie
Some move to Downtown Muncie for its historic architecture, others for its walkability. Many residents like that they can stroll down to the Muncie Civic Theatre for a show, to the Muncie Children's Museum for a play date or to the Canan Commons Park for an outdoor concert. Others appreciate its proximity to Muncie's many trails, while others enjoy the fact that their kids can walk to Muncie Central High School. Many residents cross paths each morning at the local coffee shop, The Caffeinery. Some stop in to pick up a latte and a pastry, while others stay for hours, catching up with friends, or finding a quiet spot to get some work done. "The shop acts as the unofficial tourism hub of the city. It's definitely the type of spot that's predominantly occupied by regulars," says Frank Reber, owner of The Caffeinery. "The space is designed to facilitate conversations and meetups with friends, family, co-workers, and the like. If people have moved away and are back in town, we're usually one of their first stops."

The PubHouse has also won several awards over the years for their desserts and steaks and for being the best date spot in town. Tuppee Tong is a casual Thai spot with some of the city's spiciest food. CASA is everyone's favorite Mexican restaurant – perfect for a night of chips and salsa, margaritas and fajitas. The Downtown Farm Stand is a small organic food store with fresh produce and an in-store café. For a larger array of shopping options locals head 2 miles north to the Muncie Mall for their many commercial retail options, a Target and a movie theater.
