On the east side of the Chicago suburb of Mundelein is the Cambridge Chase neighborhood, with modestly sized yards and an active, loyal community. “There is no homeowners association, but people who live here will organize block parties,” says Tom Udvance, a broker with Compass who also lives in the neighborhood. “Even after kids leave, people want to stay in this neighborhood, and those who move out want to return.” While people living here have a Mundelein address, public schools are in the Vernon Hills district. “The taxes are slightly lower in Mundelein than Vernon Hills,” he adds.
