Metra trains and Route 60 drives to Chicago and elsewhere
Cambridge connects to Mundelein and the greater Chicago area via the Illinois Route 60 highway on the west side, Maple Avenue/Illinois Route 176 on the north side and Midlothian Road to the east. Residents are about a mile away from downtown Mundelein and 41 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop. The Mundelein Metra station is about 2 miles east of the neighborhood, and commuters can expect a 1 hour and 15-minute train ride into Chicago during peak hours. For medical emergencies, Advocate Condell Medical Center is 5 miles east of the neighborhood. Luke’s of Mundelein keeps things familiar with Chicago-style dogs and beef sandwiches, while Tony Cannoli is a go-to for dessert. To the neighborhood’s immediate south, Walgreens and Aldi stores provide convenient shopping stops for everyday needs. Additional major retailers nearby include Jewel-Osco to the north, Target, T.J. Maxx and the Home Depot to the northwest and the Hawthorn Mall to the east in Vernon Hills.Beer festivals and roller skating sessions
Many of Cambridge’s convenient outings are in downtown Mundelein. Tighthead Brewing Company serves craft beer and pub fare in the heart of the village. The annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival happens each June at Tighthead. The festivities include a range of selections from local breweries and vendors, food trucks, live music and outdoor games. Additional events include Park on Park classic car shows in the summer, the Mundelein Arts Festival in the early fall and WinterFest each December.
