Myersville is a peaceful community with well-rated schools
Sitting 55 miles northwest of Washington, Myersville is an exurb in Maryland with strong schools and a sense of tranquility. “Whenever you look at the rankings, the top of the list is packed with Fredrick County schools,” says Kelly Losquardo of Long & Foster Real Estate. “A good deal of residents do take I-270 into Washington for work, but that hour drive is not for the faint of heart.”
Sidewalks line residential streets with Colonial Revivals
Three-bedroom brick ranch-style homes in Myersville begin at $375,000, while larger colonial five-bedroom builds are in the $650,000 ballpark. Homes are on large lots down winding roads, often ending in cul-de-sacs to offer a sense of privacy. The flat sidewalks on each side of the street make for an easy walk with the dog, and driveways and multi-car garages mean you won’t see many cars parked on the road. Tall, mature trees and well-maintained bushes are prevalent in the spacious yards. Many of the homes are brick colonials, but you’ll also see farmhouse builds, Craftsman and new construction.

Frederick County schools include the well-rated Myersville Elementary
Children attend Fredrick County Public Schools, beginning at Myersville Elementary. “People will move here specifically for the schools,” says Losquardo. Myersville's 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio is well above the national average. Students then move to Middletown Middle School before heading to Middletown High. The Middletown High Marching Knights are an impressive band, consistently placing high in the Maryland Marching Band Association competitions. All three earn an A-minus from Niche.

Gambrill State Park and Musket Ridge Golf Club offer recreation
There are plenty of recreation options in Myersville, headlined by Gambrill State Park. “They love to get outside and enjoy the parks and the amazing views,” says Losquardo of Myersville residents. Located on the ridge of the Catoctin Mountains, Gambrill State Park features 16 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. Harp Park is a great spot to play a game of pickup basketball or tennis. The park is also the home of many youth baseball games. Flook Park has plenty of green space to lay out a picnic or walk the dog. North Crossing Park has a playground for children and a large grassy area to toss a frisbee, while Musket Ridge Golf Club is a great place to spend an afternoon walking 18 holes. Residents can also get outside of Myersville for fun, “people will go to D.C. and take advantage of the free museums and the music venues.”

Madame Patisserie is one of several high-end dining options
Myersville residents love fine dining, and there is no shortage of options in the area. Nothing gets the day started like an espresso and pastry from Madame Patisserie. For something fresh from the Ocean, JB Seafood is the spot. Specializing in oysters and crab cakes, JB is also dishing out quality sides like mac and cheese and hush puppies. Be sure to stop in for Taco Tuesday for fish or shrimp tacos. Newer to the area, Verona Pizzeria has been serving specialty pies and more since 2019. As the name implies, pizza is the go-to at Verona, and the restaurant has plenty of creative options like the chicken alfredo and the Aloha with ham and pineapple. To wind down, Mazzaroth Vineyard is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine with a fantastic view on the weekend. Orchid Cellar Meadery and Winery has live music to entertain patrons while they sip their signature drinks.
For fresh produce, Myersville Farmer’s Market has locally raised fruits and vegetables. National chains like Safeway off Highway 40, and Weis off Old National Pike are convenient places to stock up for the entire week. For household needs, residents visit Walmart, and shoppers are always looking for reasons to head to Westview Promenade. With plenty of stores including regional boutiques and a movie theater, Westview is a great way to spend an afternoon.
