Upscale shopping and ocean access in Myrtle Beach
In Myrtle Beach, Market Commons is situated at a prime location next to Market Common shopping mall and within 3 miles of the oceanfront. “It’s a wonderful place to live, and it’s close to just about everything,” says Stacy Stoll, a Realtor with Realty ONE Group Dockside who lives in the neighborhood. “It’s near the culinary institute, beachside restaurants and bars and a weekly farmers market. There are amusement parks for kids and upscale restaurants and shopping, and you can drive the golf cart to Ocean Boulevard.” In addition to its proximity to the beach, Market Commons also has a variety of outdoor recreation. “There are trails that people are constantly walking on, three huge parks and a community gym,” Stoll says. The neighborhood also borders Myrtle Beach International Airport, making it a convenient neighborhood for airline employees and frequent flyers.
Homes are built around the trendy Market Common mall
Shopping and dining options are a short walk or bike ride away at The Market Common mall. This hub for retail therapy, entertainment and dining has both indoor and outdoor areas, plus a movie theater. Retailers include Orvis, Barnes & Noble and Anthropologie, and the mall is home to a variety of breweries, cafes and restaurants. Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar serves classic Southern food, like fried chicken and fried green tomatoes. Restaurants participate in happy hour and occasionally host events, like live music. The city’s other entertainment venues, like Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, are a quick drive away. Shoppers can grab groceries at Aldi and Target.

Locals can park their golf carts at the public beach near the start of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, a paved path that stretches over a mile parallel to the shore. Residents can also park at Myrtle Beach State Park, which has a fishing pier. One of the parks in Market Commons is called Savannah’s Playground. “Savannah’s Playground is just an amazing music park where kids can play instruments, bang on drums and play the chimes – and it has swings for kids who need adaptive swing sets,” Stoll says. Barc Parc South is a spacious dog park with a pond especially for pups to doggie paddle in. In the middle of the neighborhood, Grand Park Athletic Complex is a large athletic facility for all ages that caters to a host of sports, including volleyball, softball and soccer.
A coastal, year-round community in Myrtle Beach
Walking through the residential streets, sidewalks pass front porches, palmetto trees and some Colonial Revival stylings reminiscent of Charleston, South Carolina. The neighborhood contains a variety of single-level and two story New Traditional homes; some exteriors are painted a beachy shade of teal, blue or green. Single-family home prices can range from about $220,000 to $1.5 million, though many fall in the $400,000 to $500,000 range. Residents also benefit from the proximity to Myrtle Beach International Airport. “It makes it really easy for people to travel,” Stoll says. “It’s a five-minute drive or a $20 Uber ride. You do hear the airplanes, but it’s not obscene. You get used to it. The naval base is still there and working. It’s kind of fun to see when they do air shows.”
