Custom homes and golf course condos
There are nine communities within Silverado Resort; some have golf course views, while others are set on steep hillsides overlooking the Napa Valley. Each has its own homeowner's association and private amenities, like pools and clubhouses. Keller describes the area’s single-family homes as “typically more ranch style, but we do have quite a few houses on the east side that are two-story with modern architecture and views overlooking the Napa Valley." Homes usually have Mediterranean elements like tiled roofs and stucco sides; most were built in the 1970s and ‘90s, with some 21st-century homes also available. A 1970s four-bedroom on Kaanapali Drive near the resort’s entrance can start at $1.2 million, while a 2023 five-bedroom custom luxury home in the Silverado Highlands can cost $5.2 million.One- and two-story townhouse condos with golf course views are also available; these can cost between $625,000 for a one-bedroom and $1.6 million for a four-bedroom. Gibson notes that these are popular investment properties because Silverado’s rental management program handles all the logistics of renting and maintenance. “If you're ever going to have an investment property in Napa, you do it in Silverado,” Gibson says.
Golf at the Silverado Country Club
Membership in the Silverado Country Club grants unlimited access to golf courses, tennis courts and the clubhouse. “You don’t have to join the club, but a lot of people do,” says Bart Moore, a Realtor with Compass who grew up in Napa. “Part of the value of buying here is the country club lifestyle.” The North Course is more challenging than the club’s South Course; both are par-72 courses designed by Robert Trent Jones and Johnny Miller. Tennis and pickleball are also popular, and players can take classes and compete in tournaments. The Napa Spa at Silverado offers facials and massages, and it also has a salon, pool and gym. Just outside Silverado Resort’s entrance, artists can refine their skills at Jessel Gallery, which hosts painting classes, writing salons and art shows.Agriscience at Vintage High
Local kids can start at Vichy Elementary, which earns an A-minus from Niche, then attend the B-minus-rated Silverado Middle. At the B-plus-rated Vintage High, students can join over 40 clubs, including the Poetry Club, Future Farmers of America and the Thespian Society. As of summer 2024, Vintage High is building a new Agricultural Science and Innovation Center for its Agriscience and AgTech Career Technical Education pathways. The PGA Tour’s Fortinet Championship
The resort’s July 3rd Barbecue brings out families for an evening of live music, baby back ribs, and kids’ activities like face painting and obstacle courses; the July 4th Celebration brings more festivities, including a pool party. Local bands perform each summer during the weekly Music on the Mansion Lawn concert series, and each September, golf superstars compete at the PGA Tour’s Fortinet Championship at the North Course. According to Keller, neighborhood block parties are also popular. “Everybody brings some wine or drinks, and we get together and spend a couple of hours talking and listening to music.”Near the Silverado Trail
Monticello Road connects Silverado Resort to the Silverado Trail and Downtown Napa, 4 miles south. Without public transportation, most residents use their cars or golf carts to get around; and while the two-lane Monticello Road lacks bike lanes, its low speed makes it bicycle friendly. There are few sidewalks in Silverado Resort, but the curving, secluded streets are still popular for evening strolls and dog walks. Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center is 3 miles southwest. Napa County Airport, a public airport with no commercial flights, is 10 miles south; the mostly domestic San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport is 54 miles south, and San Francisco International Airport is 62 miles south.Burgerdogs on the golf course
Silverado Resort’s most famous restaurant isn't a fine-dining destination: it's a cheeseburger stand. “We have the world-renowned Billie’s Burgerdog,” Keller says. “These are hamburgers shaped like hotdogs, and everyone here loves to eat them.” This family-owned business, recently rebranded as The Original Burgerdog, has been a staple on Silverado’s golf courses since 1973. For a more high-end experience, diners can enjoy truffle chicken pot pie or braised short ribs at The Grill. Just outside of Silverado Resort, Cordeiro’s Steakhouse serves local beef in an upscale, rustic setting. Residents can pick up a bottle of wine and a sandwich at the Silverado Market & Bakery. Nearby grocery options include Nob Hill Foods and Whole Foods Market.High wildfire risk
Silverado Resort has a high risk of wildfire. The last major wildfire was the Atlas Fire in 2017, which destroyed hundreds of homes in the area and killed six people. “It was a freak thing. The winds just happened to be blowing the opposite way,” Keller says. “It took maybe three years to get a lot of the homes built again. Everybody came together and helped out.” The Silverado Fire Safe Council works with Napa Firewise to educate homeowners and help them prevent for future fires. Residents can also sign up for Nixle emergency alerts from the city and the county.
