Peaceful living in Hobson Village
Groves of old-growth trees create a snug, leafy sanctuary around the homes in Hobson Village. “It’s a friendly cul-de-sac community where neighbors are all friends, and you’ll see kids playing together in the street or people are out riding their bikes,” says Gail Niermeyer, a broker with Coldwell Banker Commercial Realty. Shaded sidewalks lead to the waterfront parks and trails that are woven into the fabric of the community, complementing its peaceful, suburban atmosphere. Hobson Village also sits within 2.5 miles of downtown Naperville, giving residents quick access to shopping and dining hubs, an aquatic park and a children’s museum to keep busy.

20th-century homes with spacious yards
Hobson Village is a visible example of the old and new coming together, with decades-old, well-maintained homes next to immaculately renovated properties. “Prices have been going up steadily as people renovate the interiors and exteriors of the homes built in the 1970s and ‘80s,” Niermeyer says. “We’re seeing homes break the million-dollar barrier, and they used to be priced around $550,000 to $750,000.” The neighborhood has a mix of colonials, Tudor-inspired homes and new traditional perched on large lots, some above a half-acre. Neighbors meticulously tend to the large lawns peppered with trees and vibrant gardens. The majority of the houses have brick and vinyl facades and feature one- to two-car garages.

History on display at Veterans Park and Pioneer Park
Appreciation for the area’s history is evident through many of Hobson Village’s greenspaces. Veterans Park is a memorial site for Naperville natives who served in the armed forces, and it doubles as a recreational hub for riverfront trails and bike paths. More trails are available for locals to traverse at Pioneer Park, an 18-acre floodplain “where a lot of people go to fish,” according to Niermeyer. It’s also home to native birds like Cooper hawks and American redstarts. Historic millstones paying homage to DuPage County’s first settler, Bailey Hobson, are situated within the park and are a popular spot for photo ops. Sunny Island is an extension of Pioneer Park and can be accessed by a scenic footbridge. A newly renovated playground attracts families to Hobson Grove. Along with the new equipment, the park received new picnic tables, benches and shade trees planted along its sidewalks.
