Three subdivisions make up Meadow Glens
The Meadow Glens neighborhood has three subdivisions. The earliest development started in the 1970s with The Glens. The Meadows followed that with homes built between the late 1970s and 1990. The Meadow Glens subdivision features homes that were built in the 1990s. “People want to stay here because of the elementary schools, which are the best in the area and all of metro Chicago,” says Gary Leavenworth, a real estate broker at Coldwell Banker Realty with over 40 years in the real estate business. He also lived in the Meadow Glens for 35 years.
Meadow Glens is perched along the DuPage River and is located southeast of Naperville.

Niche rates it as the best elementary school out of 143 in DuPage County and fifth best in the Chicago area out of over 1,400. “It’s a great school because the parents are involved,” Leavenworth says. “They put a strong emphasis on reading and reading comprehension.” Lincoln Junior High School gets an A on Niche and has a 14-to-1 student-teacher ratio. Naperville Central High School receives an A-plus overall rating on Niche. The school offers world and classical language classes, including Chinese and American Sign Language.

DuPage River flows by
Every spring, a team of volunteers along the DuPage River get together to do a sweep to help clean up the waterway. That includes the stretch that flows in the western portion of the neighborhood. Fishing is a popular activity on the river, and smallmouth bass is a popular catch. The West Branch DuPage River Trail runs 33 miles and follows the river. It’s used by bikers, walkers and even cross-country skiers in the winter. Meadow Glens Park has a paved trail encompassing the green space, which includes a baseball and soccer field. Multiple basketball courts, a playground and a gazebo are outside the trail.

Shopping options
Two major grocery stores are in the neighborhood in small shopping centers across the street from one another. Jewel-Osco is in the Market Meadows Shopping Center, and Mariano’s is in the Fox Run Square Shopping Center on Naper Boulevard near the intersection of Hobson Road. “There are two Starbucks and one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the area,” Leavenworth says. “If it’s not in the neighborhood, you probably don’t need it.” Two Starbucks locations are in the Fox Run Square Shopping Center, including one inside the Mariano’s. House of Emperor is a family-owned restaurant with inside seating available and various “Best of Naperville” plaques on the wall. Kids and adults with musical aspirations can take lessons and attend camps to hone their craft at Bach to Rock Music School.
