Niche's 2024 Best City to Live in America
Springhill is a 1 square-mile suburb bordering the acclaimed Naperville Historic District. Naperville has won as many “bests” as a town can. Niche named it the 2024 Best City to Live in America, the third Best City to Buy a House in America, the Best City to Raise a Family in America and the City with the Best Public Schools in America. Money ranked Naperville 16th on Money's Best Places to Live in 2022. The list goes on. The nice thing about Springhill is its separateness and proximity to the lauded city’s historic downtown. Big green spaces border every end of the neighborhood, and transportation, restaurants and amenities are within a mile.
Springhill is located in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Springhill features one and two story single family homes.

Prepare for a bidding war
The only problem with the homes in Springhill and Greater Naperville is there aren’t enough of them. Stacey Pruett, a Realtor with Fathom Realty and eight years of local experience, says, “The lack of inventory in this area and all the surrounding areas is just continuing to push prices higher as buyers are willing to pay a premium to win the deal.” Houses here sit on medium-to large-size lots and are set back from the road, bordered by sidewalks and usually well-shaded by tall maple, oak and pine trees. Small but neat and often remodeled ranch-style houses are listed for between $350,000 and $400,000. Larger ranch-style homes made of brick with additions and two-car garages list for between $700,000 and $850,000. Postwar split-levels can be found for between $450,000 and $500,000. At the top of the market, newly constructed brick colonial mansions and sprawling custom-built ranch-style homes are listing for between $1.2 million and $1.5 million. There are also some new townhouses being constructed at the western edge of the neighborhood, near the Naperville historic district.

A historic downtown
“This area is a short drive to downtown,” says Amy Pearson, a local Realtor with Christie International Real Estate. “This gives residents easy access to the quaint shops in downtown and the historic district, which immerses people in the landmarks and rich history of the area.” Early 20th-century landmarks, such as the 1917 Truitt House, designed in quintessential prairie style by an acolyte of Frank Lloyd Wright’s, are plentiful in Historic Naperville. Other cultural outlets under a mile away from Springhill residents include Protestant and Catholic churches and the DuPage Children's Museum. The campus of North Central College has operated in Downtown Naperville since 1861. North Central offers adult education for residents. Musical performances at Pfeiffer Hall and theatrical shows at Meiley-Swallow Hall are open to the public. Shops nearby range from Lululemon to an Apple store. There are too many great restaurants to list, but Fiamme, an Italian restaurant, and Andy's Frozen Custard are two standouts between downtown and Springhill. A mile north, Pho Tien Vietnamese restaurant was named "Chef's Choice" by Chicago Tribune food critics. Costco, H-Mart Asian Grocery and Jewel-Osco are all under a mile from Springhill.
Downtown Naperville, near Springhill has numerous shopping and dining options.

Parks and preserves
Parks are another reason why Naperville is so popular. Springhill is very green, within and without. Springhill Park and Greenway run through the middle of the neighborhood, with a creek and fields opening behind some backyards. Seager Park, a large green space with a sand volleyball court and a meandering concrete path, is next to the neighborhood’s north side. To the south is the 18-hole golf course, Naperville Country Club Grounds, part of the century-old Naperville Country Club. There are two huge nature preserves, two miles equidistant from Springhill, Springbrook Prairie, and Danada Forest.
