Walkable primary schools and the esteemed Waubonsie Valley High
The Indian Prairie Community School District 204 serves Tall Grass, where students are initially divided into two catchment areas. Fry Elementary School earns an A on Niche and enrolls those east of 284th Avenue, while Peterson Elementary earns an A-plus and enrolls those west of the avenue. “Most elementary schools are within the neighborhood, meaning they’re walkable,” says Vanessa Bianchi, a broker with The Ville Team at Coldwell Banker Realty. “Middle and high schools almost always have bus service.” Catchments unite at Scullen Middle School and Waubonsie Valley High School, both of which earn an A-plus on Niche. The latter provides students with esteemed programs and amenities, including a six-time Grammy Award-winning music program and an in-house planetarium. Additionally, Waubonsie’s extensive list of sports offerings has yielded several professional athletes in football, soccer, baseball and basketball.
Fry Elementary School is part of Naperville's acclaimed school district.

Ample parking at the nearest Metra station
The Route 59 Metra station is about 5 miles north of Tall Grass, where commuter parking is a big deal to nearby residents. “Parking is huge there. That’s one of the reasons my own family moved to the area,” Bianchi says. “There used to be a waiting list for a parking pass! Now, there are plenty of spaces, and you can park daily or with a monthly pass. The train actually starts at the Route 59 station, too, so it’s pretty much empty when you get there! That’s a perk. There are almost always free seats on the train.” The Metra takes riders about an hour’s ride to Downtown Chicago, while those driving can expect a 40-mile commute on Interstates 290 and 88. Chicago Midway International Airport is about 33 miles east on I-55. Residents can reach Downtown Naperville in 8 miles on Route 59 or catch the bus at one of the thoroughfare’s many stops. he closest emergency room is located at Rush Copley Medical Center, 4 miles north on Route 34.
Bordered to the east by Route 59
Route 59 flanks Tall Grass to the east, Naperville’s western thoroughfare lined with shopping and dining options. Jewel-Osco and ALDI are the nearest grocers, surrounded by regional eateries like Culver’s and Giordano’s. “We have everything we need here; you never have to go to Downtown Naperville unless there’s a new spot you want to check out,” Bianchi says. “All the commercial chains are like 5 minutes away, including international markets like Patel Brothers. A lot of it is within walking distance of Tall Grass and White Eagle.” Dining options range from global cuisine to classic American fare. Chai Ho Jai Tea Room serves South Asian specialties, from milk tea to Lacha Paratha. Paris Bistro is a local favorite, an upscale Parisian spot with fine wine and delectable crepes. Residents are also just 5 miles from Fox Valley Mall, Naperville’s retail hub.
A titular trail and the recreation surrounding it
The Tall Grass Greenway Trail winds through the heart of the Tall Grass community, connecting to both the DuPage River Trail and Normantown Trail. Winding 4 miles from the Vermont Cemetery Preserve to Naperville-Plainfield Road, the trail allows guests to cross-country ski and snowshoe in addition to standard biking, hiking and running. The neighborhood’s titular park sits beside Fry Elementary, an expansive recess area with a basketball court and walking paths to surrounding subdivisions. East of Route 59, Frontier Park offers everything from a skate park to more than a dozen multi-purpose fields. Paved trails connect amenities, including playgrounds, ball courts and even a nature overlook. Bianchi recommends checking out Wolf’s Crossing community park to the west, where flower gardens and grassy knolls yield to play structures and ball courts. “They even have a little zipline for the kids,” she notes. Members of the Tamarack Golf Club—just south of Tall Grass—are privy to a par-70, 6,901-yard championship layout.
Tall Grass residents can enjoy the basketball courts at Wolf's Crossing Community Park.
