Timber Creek
Suburban Neighborhood in Naperville, Illinois
DuPage County 60565
Subdivisions with modest gardens and basketball hoops
Modest gardens and basketball hoops decorate the front lawns of Timber Creek, where single-family homes outline rounded subdivisions. Traditional architecture is common, with builds often boasting more than 4,000 square feet on quarter-acre lots. Rows of young trees are planted along the neighborhood’s road verges, interrupted only by wide, paved driveways leading to two and three-car garages. In addition, homebuyers can expect to find neatly fenced-in backyards flaunting everything from private gazebos to spacious back patios. These single-family homes range in price between $550,000 to $800,000, while townhomes in the Haverton subdivision hover between $400,000 and $500,000.Neighborhood swimming competitions
Spring Brook winds along the southern edge of Timber Creek, flanked to the east by Timber Creek Park. Renovated in 2023, the playground is surrounded by a multi-purpose field and a basketball court within walking distance of most residences. Less than a mile north, the Breckenridge Estates Swim & Tennis Club offers non-resident memberships for those outside of the subdivision. “Every neighborhood has a pool with a swim team. It’s a big deal in South Naperville,” Bianchi says. “Different neighborhoods have competitions that last all summer. The whole community gets involved! When you have kids, you want to keep them busy and not drive an hour away for lessons. It’s nice to have a place where we can walk or drive 5 minutes and be done.” Springbrook Prairie is situated north along Plainfield-Naperville Road, an expansive preserve featuring 7 miles of trails, a dog park and the Springbrook Golf Course.A globally diverse, A-rated school district
The Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 serves Timber Creek, with each school earning an A-plus on Niche. “The school district actually organizes events for the high amount of immigrants that we have here,” Bianchi explains, herself a Colombian local who has helped many immigrant families acclimate to the area. “We even bring in translators and interpreters for these families. I can tell you that my kids have been exposed to so many different cultures, something others only achieve by actually traveling to all these places. They know so much about other religions and traditions because they’ve been exposed to them at school. And as an immigrant, I love it. Global diversity is part of their everyday life.” Students begin at Spring Brook Elementary and continue on to Gordon Gregory Middle, ranked the ninth-best public middle school in the state. Neuqua Valley High School offers an expansive athletics program, where students compete in the DuPage Valley Conference and state championships with the Illinois High School Association.Reaching Downtown Chicago by Metra
Downtown Chicago is about 39 miles east of Timber Creek on Interstate 55, but most residents opt to take the Metra. Naperville’s station is the closest, about 6 miles north. The Route 59 Metra, however, offers ample commuter parking with the convenience of hourly, daily and monthly passes. “Most people choose the Route 59 Metra,” says Bridget Salela, a broker with The Ville Team at Coldwell Banker. “We used to have an issue with parking to the point where people were fighting over passes in their divorces. But it’s completely changed since the pandemic, now it’s mostly hourly.” Chicago Midway International Airport is about 32 miles east on I-55, while Chicago Bolingbrook International Airport is just 4 miles east, a public aviation facility for private pilots and commuter aircraft. Residents are car-dependent, as the closest bus service is along Route 59. The nearest emergency room remains about 5 miles north at Endeavor Health Edward Hospital.Shopping at the intersection of Boughton and Weber
A plethora of shopping and dining options are clustered at the intersection of Boughton and Weber, less than 3 miles east of Timber Creek. Retail options like Burlington and Best Buy neighbor ALDI at Maple Park Place. Meijer Supermarket is across the street, while Jewel-Osco and Target are in the same vicinity. A handful of fast-food spots like CosMc’s rest between them. The spinoff brand of McDonald’s opened its doors in December of 2023 with a singular location on Weber Road. Farther south, The Patio has served South Naperville since 1977, a family-owned burger and brisket joint, while closer to home, Traverso’s serves Italian family recipes dating back to 1927. Major retailers can be found at the Fox Valley Mall, 6 miles north on Route 59.
