Walnut Ridge
Well maintained lawns with wide sidewalks
Beyond the neighborhood’s stone entryways, wide sidewalks border spacious residential lots with well-maintained lawns and unique landscaping. Homes in Walnut Ridge were built in the 1970s and 1980s, and many of the original owners are still residents today. Home styles are mixed, with ranch houses next door to traditional colonials and stately brick Tudors. Most homes have attached garages. A four-bedroom, three-bathroom brick ranch home costs $725,000, while a custom-built contemporary house with five bedrooms, four bathrooms and over 7,000 square feet of living space sells for $1,330,000.A rated schools

An abundance of nearby greenspaces is one of Walnut Ridge’s biggest draws. Du Page River Park is approximately 1 mile away and has ponds, picnic shelters, and a hiking trail that includes a segment of the DuPage River Trail. Visitors at Weigand Riverfront Park can splash or float in DuPage River or explore the grassy path that runs parallel to its banks. Whalon Lake lies to the immediate south and offers boating, fishing and wildlife viewing in the summer and snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter.Quality pizza and barbecue
Restaurants in the area include Little Pops Pizzeria, which was recognized as having the best New York-style pizza in the state by the Washington Post in 2023. Little Pops has no sit-down service, so customers get orders via take-out or delivery. The Patio on South Weber Road serves outstanding barbeque in a relaxed setting. For shopping, Target, Best Buy, Jewel-Osco, Home Depot and other major retailers are all less than 2 miles away near the intersection of West Boughton Road and Washington Street.
