Postwar split levels to modern farmhouses
"I've seen Naperville grow from nothing to the metropolis it's become," says Evelyn Fred, a Chicago-area Realtor with Baird & Warner and 17 years of experience. Despite that growth, the housing market remains affordable for various incomes. Home prices start around $350,000 and reach up to $1.5 million. At the lower end, postwar ranch-style homes seem like a natural feature of the broad streets shaded by old-growth maples and oaks. Postwar split levels are available for under $600,000; many have been remodeled. At the upper end of the market are palatial neo-colonials, Tudor-inspired mansions, and modern farmhouses.
Homes in West Highlands feature up to a quarter-acre of yard space.
West Highlands features many newly updated ranch-style homes.

Various bike trails connect from Gartner Park to the 1,800-acre Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve, which begins on the southern edge of West Highlands and features over 7 miles of trails. Pioneer Park is an 18-acre floodplain a block east; hikers may encounter native birds such as downy woodpeckers and white-breasted nuthatches. On the grounds is the historic monument Hobson's Stones. Sunny Island in the DuPage River is also an extension of Pioneer Park and can be accessed by an enchanting footbridge. On the north of West Highlands, Ron Ory Community Garden Plots has over 430 gardening plots for rent. Next door, Endeavor Health Edward Hospital has an emergency room.
