Wildflower Park is a tiny neighborhood on the western edge of Naperville City, Niche's 2024 Best City to Live in America. This subdivision is only minutes from Aurora’s Fox Valley retail corridor and less than five miles from downtown Naperville.
Most homes here were built within the last 25 years on single and double lots. There are two roads that enter and exit the neighborhood with three cul-de-sacs attached. Similar-looking large new traditional homes and townhouses with manicured lawns and garages line the broad, planned streets. Townhouses list for between $300,000 and $450,000. The detached new traditional homes list for between $500,000 and $900,000. Stacey Pruett, a Realtor with Fathom Realty and eight years of local experience, says, “Naperville is a very desirable community for its location, amenities and schools, so you really get buyers fighting to live there and those that live there already aren't moving anytime soon.”
The namesake greenspace, Wildflower Park, not only sits at the heart of the community but serves as the neighborhood’s sole landmark. This 27-acre green space has a walking trail that snakes around Wildflower Lake. It has a mulched playground and an open field ideal for picnics. Perhaps, in an attempt to help the park live up to its name, the city has also planted gardens with tulips and daffodils. “One of the greatest features of living in Naperville are the parks,” says Kelley Munch, Senior Communications Specialist with the city of Naperville. "There are volunteer organizations that keep our outdoor public spaces clean, healthy and thriving.”
Wildflower Park is in The Indian Prairie School District #204, which received an A-plus rating from Niche and a ranking of 13th-best out of the 416 school districts in Illinois. Mary Lou Cowlishaw Elementary School and Thayer J. Hill Middle School both received As on Niche. Metea Valley High School is ranked as the top school in Naperville and boasts an overall Niche score of A-plus. Students regularly win National Merit and U.S. Presidential Scholar Program Scholarships.
Wildflower Park has a surprisingly diverse culinary scene. Residents can choose from Asian, Italian or American fare, sometimes within walking distance. On Route 59 and W. Ogden Avenue, there's a nice blend of chain restaurants and locally owned spots, including Middle Eastern restaurant Naf Naf Grill. Outback Steakhouse and Chick-fil-A are just a few of the chains in the area. Downtown Naperville also has critically acclaimed eateries and cafes. International Fresh Market provides fresh produce and unique spices. Fox River Commons houses major retailers such as DSW and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Nearby Fox Valley Mall is another popular shopping and entertainment spot with anchor establishments like Round 1 Bowling, Sky Zone Trampoline Park, JC Penney and Macy’s.
The Route 59 Metra Station is 2 miles north of Wildflower Park. Departing commuter trains arrive in Chicago in about an hour. Naperville Road takes commuters to Interstate 88, which leads straight downtown.
