Iverson is a quieter area close to the activity of East Nashville

If you like the vibrancy of East Nashville, but want something a little quieter, Iverson is worth a look. This small neighborhood has a mix of early-1900s bungalows and Tudor cottages right alongside sleek new construction. Since you’re a bit farther from the action, prices are lower than in neighborhoods like Eastwood or Rosebank. However, you still get easy access to Gallatin Pike's dining, vintage shops and trendy breweries, plus some of East Nashville's biggest parks and festivals just a short drive away. Getting downtown is a breeze, too, whether you hop on Ellington Parkway or catch the WeGo bus down Gallatin.

Tudor-style bungalows and some new construction

Like much of East Nashville, Iverson blends old and new. You'll spot bungalows and Tudor Revival cottages from the early to mid-1900s next to houses added after 2010. The newer properties are often called "tall-skinnies" because they're packed tightly onto one standard lot. "Although new builds have a more modern appearance, they mix in tastefully and fit well on the streets," says Mark Kiker, an affiliate broker with American Heritage, who has lived in the area for over two decades. You can find a few condos starting in the mid-$200,000s, while single-family homes start in the upper $300,000s. For modern construction and fully renovated properties, expect to pay from the $500,000s to the lower $800,000s.

Gallatin Pike’s dining, vinyl shops and craft breweries

Gallatin Pike is a hub for restaurants and retail, lined with thrift shops, dive bars and quirky boutiques. While this section of the city is not as bustling as Five Points, a few miles south, there are still plenty of local businesses to explore, including:

  • Lost and Found Nashville, an open-air plaza that mixes food trucks, a wine bar, cocktails, local shops and a lawn for events
  • Crazy Gnome Brewery, a nano brewery with trivia nights pouring house-made beers alongside F.A.B. Pizza
  • Rice Vice by Proper Sake Co., Tennessee's first sake brewery with house-made sakes and Japanese-inspired bites
  • Grimey's New & Preloved Music, a record store with vinyl, CDs, books and frequent in-store performances
  • El Jaliciense Mexican Restaurant, a family-run spot known for its birria tacos

Only a few miles from some of East Nashville’s largest parks

Just under 2 miles away, South Inglewood Park is a go-to spot for playgrounds and youth sports. The park’s community center has after-school programs and open gym time for adults. You can also make it to Shelby Park and Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Natural Area within 5 miles. Between the two, you’ll find 1,300 acres of parkland along the Cumberland River, including an 18-hole golf course, biking trails and a dog park.

Iverson's calendar is packed with festivals and live music

Iverson is only minutes away from some of the biggest events and attractions on this side of the city. “It offers great access to everything East Nashville has to offer, and there's a lot of fun stuff in East Nashville. It's really spread all over the place. It’s not really concentrated, and Iverson has good access to all that,” says Scott Troxel, with Keller Williams Realty, who’s made several sales in the East Nashville area.

  • Fridays by the River, a seasonal series at Shelby Park with food trucks, draft beer and live music
  • Music City Hot Chicken Festival, a free Fourth of July celebration at East Park with a fire truck parade and cooking competition
  • Tomato Art Fest, a free two-day August event in Five Points with tomato-themed art, a parade and live bands
