Reservoirs and trails
Bonanza Mountain Estates’ proximity to Hurricane Hill provides a path to the outdoors. Within the hill’s surrounding forests, there is camping, hiking, biking, climbing and hunting. Barker Meadow Reservoir is a man-made body of water roughly 2 miles southwest of the neighborhood. “It’s a beautiful site with the Continental Divide Mountain range in the background,” says Liz Ford, real estate broker and owner of Ford & Co Realty, who has over 30 years of experience. Shoreline fishing along the reservoir is popular, with multiple types of trout swimming in the waters. A couple of hiking trails wind around the lake with beautiful views. Swimming and boating are not allowed, since the water is utilized by the city of Boulder. The Nederland Community Center has indoor facilities, including a fitness center, a basketball court and a dance studio. Every Friday and Saturday, the center hosts movie nights for the community.
