Wykagyl Country Club is within walking distance of parks and dining
Located about 20 miles north of New York City, Wykagyl Country Club offers a variety of housing within walking distance of New Rochelle’s popular parks and shopping areas. “Wykagyl is one of the most desirable areas in the region,” says Yin Chen, a real estate salesperson with R2M Realty who’s sold homes in the area since 2014. “It gives you a sense of exclusivity without being too far away from the city.” The community is named for the Wykagyl Country Club, which sits in the neighborhood’s center; this private golf club has served the area since 1898. Other parks nearby provide more ways to get outside, and downtown New Rochelle is within 2 miles, providing access to a commuter train station and more restaurant options.
Single-family homes near the golf course, plus condos and co-ops
The community’s 1980s bi-level, split-level and colonial-style homes are in the Wykagyl Estates subdivision, which sits on the golf course’s east side. While the homes here don’t have golf course views, they sit along quiet streets and are surrounded by mature greenery. Home prices typically range from around $800,000 to $1.2 million, depending on condition, plus annual homeowners association fees of around $300 that provide access to the community tennis court. On the other side of the golf course, low-rise condos and mid-rise co-op buildings sit next to commercial areas along busy North Avenue. Prices vary by size, with condos ranging from $230,000 to $700,000, plus monthly HOA fees between $200 and $700, and co-op units from $120,000 to $500,000, plus $450 to $950 in monthly HOA fees.

The invitation-only Wykagyl Country Club is in the community’s center and offers members and their guests a Donald Ross-designed golf course, social events and exclusive restaurants. Twin Lakes County Park nearby has forested hiking trails. “It has a pond and some benches, though you’ll get pestering geese coming to you if you have food,” Chen says. The park is also home to Twin Lakes Farm, Westchester’s largest equestrian center, where kids can take lessons and compete in horse shows. Ward Acres Park is another nearby natural area with walking paths, plus a dog park and community garden with rentable plots.
