Recreation and transportation near suburban Wykagyl Park

Wykagyl Park, 25 miles from New York City, is an almost entirely residential New Rochelle neighborhood known for its serene greenery, updated homes and proximity to transportation. It's next door to the Wykagyl Country Club and across from the historic Thomas Paine Cottage Museum. North Avenue borders the suburban community, giving residents access to Bee Line bus stops and the New Rochelle train station, 3 miles away. “It’s a city vibe with a suburban twist,” says Patrice Footes about New Rochelle. Footes is a New Rochelle resident and an associate broker with Coldwell Banker Realty who also sells in Connecticut. While Wykagyl Park has a few streets with sidewalks, the main roadways, such as Main Street and North Avenue, have sidewalks that make commercial areas more accessible. “I can walk less than a mile and get Starbucks or Kong Fu Tea,” says Footes.

Large homes in revival and modern styles

Wide roads wind through manicured lots surrounded by tall maple and pine trees. Some streets are bordered by sidewalks, though most only have a driveway and walking path leading to the road. Homes are in the Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, new traditional and raised ranch-styles. There are only single-family homes in Wykagyl and price depends on size. Homes with five bedrooms or more typically range from $1.4 million to $2.7 million, while homes with three to four bedrooms can range from $960,000 to $1.3 million.
