Historic architecture and community spirit in Springfield-Belmont
Springfield-Belmont, a small residential neighborhood of Newark, is located in what is known as the Central Ward. "It has a great neighborhood feel," Brendan Da Silva, a real estate agent with the Da Silva Team, said. "People know each other in the area." Springfield-Belmont is home to varied grand architecture, mainly found on Martin Luther King Boulevard. These historic buildings add character to the neighborhood's central pipeline, including the vast art deco structure that houses Arts High School near the large, brown-bricked Cathedral of St. James AME Church and the Krueger-Scott Mansion. This magnificent Victorian-style structure is the most expensive residence ever built in Newark. It's also less than 20 miles from Midtown, making trips in and out of New York City seamless.

Mostly townhomes and apartments, and people like being near University Hospital
Springfield-Belmont's leafy sidewalk streets are home to primarily 21st-century townhomes and apartments. Older multifamily rowhomes dot the neighborhood. Residents also choose this neighborhood because of its large stock of townhomes and condos and its proximity to train stations and downtown Newark. The neighborhood's closeness to University Hospital is another big draw. "Doctors and nurses who work at University Hospital will always buy in Springfield-Belmont," Da Silva said. "Springfield-Belmont is one of the last affordable spots in Newark, a reason why people move here," Da Silva said. Dwellings in the Springfield-Belmont area have a median price of about $300K.
