Commuters can head west on Interstate 64 to reach Fort Eustis within 30 minutes. Downtown Hampton is less than 20 minutes east using I-664. Norfolk is across the Hampton Roads Beltway along I-664, 21 miles away. Langley Air Force Base is about 25 minutes west along Mercury Boulevard. Most people who live in Parkview rely on cars to get around and the area has sidewalks and bus stops only along popular roadways near downtown. Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is 13 miles west. Riverside Regional Medical Center is 5 miles away. Harvest Church, Newport News Church of Christ and Parkview Baptist Church are along Jefferson Avenue.
Children attend Newport News Public Schools
Newport News Public Schools, which receives a B-minus, serves Parkview. Children attend Carver Elementary School and Crittenden Middle School, both of which get a C. Students continue to Heritage High School, which receives a C-plus and is in Parkview. Heritage has a University Magnet Program that offers university programs in areas such as Arts and Humanities, Business and Marketing and Visual and Performing Arts.

Shopping and dining along Mercury Boulevard and downtown Hampton
Most shopping and dining are along Mercury Boulevard. Parkview sits behind Newmarket South Shopping Center. Newmarket has a Food Lion for groceries. Across the street, The Plaza at Newmarket has 7 Brew Coffee, a drive-thru chain that serves custom espresso drinks and Tanpopo Ramen. There’s also a Dollar General along Jefferson Avenue. More shopping and dining is in downtown Hampton.
