The Mariner’s Museum is one of the largest maritime museums in the world, home to a collection of over 32,000 artifacts. The museum also holds Noland Trail, a 5-mile footpath that winds through woodlands and around Mariner’s Lake. “We have multiple openings throughout the neighborhood with easy access to the trail,” adds Scott. The Virginia Living Museum is 2 miles north with 250 different species, a planetarium and a three-quarter-mile boardwalk trail. Riverside Beach is a private sliver of sandy coast along the James, only open to Riverside residents. Locals can also visit the nearby James River Country Club, a private, members-only club founded in 1932, for golf, tennis, swimming or dinner at the Huntington Lounge.
