A timeless township seeped in history
Newtown Square is a historical suburban township of Delaware County established in 1681 by Welsh Quakers. Once a thriving agrarian society with stone farmhouses dotting the rolling terrain, today, the green hills are now home to the well-maintained lawns, trimmed hedges and backyard pools of stately houses.
Several historic buildings still stand as tangible reminders of Newtown Square's past. The Paper Mill House Museum, a 19th-century brick home, is situated along Darby Creek, where visitors can delve into Newtown Square's history. St. David’s Episcopal Church was built in 1717 and continues to serve its thriving congregation. The 1895 arrival of the West Chester trolley spurred significant changes in Newtown Square, bringing in more people and activity. “There is a wide mix of residents from all income levels and age groups here,” says Alison Faga, a Realtor with Irving A. Miller, who lives in Newtown Square.“ But the township does a good job of bringing the community together with things like yoga classes and other activities.”

From scenic estates to cozy Capes
Newtown Square's rolling green hills provide a scenic backdrop to stately turn-of-the-century homes, modern contemporary estates, cozy Cape Cods and ranch-style houses. White picket fences, multi-car garages and long driveways are common features. So are tree-lined streets, quiet residential roads and tidy rows of townhouses. “There’s just about every home style imaginable here,” says Faga. “But overall, it is a nice balance between single-family homes, condominiums and apartments.” Single-family home prices in Newton Square range between $345,000 to around $3 million.
Massive Colonial homes set on sprawling estates are not uncommon in Newtown Square.
