‘Family oriented’ neighborhood northwest of downtown Chicago
Chesterfield Gardens is a suburban Chicago neighborhood with A-rated public schools, a central neighborhood park and commuter-friendly options for folks working or visiting the Windy City. As a result, it can be an attractive area for families. “It’s a very family-oriented subdivision,” says Marina Kando, a broker at Baird & Warner Glenbrook with over 20 years of experience. “There are always families at the neighborhood park. It feels like a small community with affordable and spacious homes.”
A-plus Niles North High School
The Golf Elementary School District 67 is located in nearby Morton Grove and provides elementary and middle school education to the neighborhood. Hynes Elementary School is rated an A on Niche and serves students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Hynes feeds into Golf Middle School, which scores an A-minus. For high school, students transition to Niles North High School, part of Niles Township Community High School District 219. The school gets an A-plus, and Niche ranks it the 30th best of Illinois' 702 public high schools. The school has a technology focus with a resource office that repairs damaged Chromebooks and classes on computer repair and web design. About a mile to the west is Notre Dame College Prep, an all-boys private Catholic school with an A-minus Niche grade.
Hynes Elementary School is a highly rated public school in Morton Grove.
Golf Middle School has a technology center and serves the surrounding communities.

Townhouse subdivision on the east side of Shermer Road
Much of the neighborhood developed in the the 1950s and ‘60s and now contains a mixture of single-family homes, townhouses and condos in Chesterfield Gardens. The namesake subdivision is a collection of townhouses and condos that range from $275,000 to $375,000. “Some of them are end-unit bi-levels with cathedral ceilings,” Kando says. The single-family housing stock uses ranch-style, bi-level, and Victorian-influenced designs. These sell from $300,000 to $660,000. The density of housing in the area results in an active noise score on the First Street website, which tracks environmental factors. The website also indicates that the neighborhood experiences occasional moderate air quality.

Park in the middle of the Chesterfield Gardens townhouse development
Chesterfield Gardens Park is in the middle of the Chesterfield Gardens townhouse development and contains a full basketball court and a small playground. About a mile south is Grennan Heights Park, which occasionally hosts family movie nights on a 46-foot screen. The park also has lighted tennis courts and ball fields. For indoor fun, Classic Bowl on Waukegan Road also has a restaurant and a bowling supply store attached. About a mile east of Chesterfield Gardens is the Miami Woods Forest Preserve, consisting of over 100 acres of prairie land. The North Branch Trail runs through the preserve and follows the North Branch of the Chicago River.
Runners enjoy Miami Woods for the trails and being fully immersed in the surrounding nature.
Chesterfield Park has full court basketball hoops for residents to stay active outdoors.

Local bakery on Dempster Street
At the busy intersection of Dempster Street and Harlem Avenue, Friends House Bakery & Restaurant, specializes in Middle Eastern pastries and shawarma wraps. Kappy’s American Grill has the motto, “From flap jacks to nightcaps,” and is open at 6 every morning until at least 9 p.m. The restaurant was started by a Greek family, so there are also Mediterranean influences on the menu. Amazon Fresh is a grocery store option on Dempster Street. The popular Chicago chain, Jewel-Osco is 2 miles south. The closest Metra station is 2 miles to the east in Morton Grove. The commuter rail line leads to Union Station in downtown Chicago in a trip that takes about 35 minutes. The Pace bus system has stops on major roads like Dempster Street, Shermer Road and Harlem Avenue. The neighborhood is about 3 miles to Interstate 294 to the west and Interstate 94 to the east. I-294 leads 9 miles to Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Interstate 94 meets up with I-90 and heads toward the Loop. The nearest medical center is about 3 miles west at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
