An established suburban community in coastal Norfolk
Norfolk Garden is a leafy, residential area tucked between Norview Avenue and Chesapeake Boulevard, which are two of Norfolk’s busiest thoroughfares. With the Lafayette River, the Elizabeth River and the Chesapeake Bay all within 5 miles of the community, Norfolk Garden is a peaceful neighborhood offering accessible, suburban living in the midst of life along the coastlines. “Norfolk Garden is a very central location in Norfolk; it has lots of restaurants and shops nearby and it’s close to the highways and public transport,” says Craig Boyer, who is a longtime Virginia Beach resident and has been servicing the Tidewater region as a Realtor and investment agent at All/Pros Realty Inc. for over 15 years. “This is a popular neighborhood that is being revitalized; homes are being rehabbed by investors and there are many growing opportunities here.”
New developments in the established Norfolk Garden area
When driving down the area’s residential streets, expect to see Colonial Revivals, Cape Cods, bungalows and ranch-style homes neatly tucked and shaded by mature trees and groves. A two or three-bedroom 1940s bungalow may be listed from $210,000 to about $300,000, and a newer two-story Colonial Revival property can be priced around $400,000. “Norfolk Garden has many older homes built between the 1920s and the1960s, but you’ll also see new construction sprinkled throughout,” says Boyer. Additionally, homes that are in Flood Zone AE can often be required to purchase flood insurance.
