Peaceful privacy in Little Axe
The fast-paced city life of Norman and Oklahoma City gives way to farmland and scenic, spacious parklands in Little Axe, which sits roughly 30 miles outside the state capital. A decidedly rural locale along the banks of Lake Thunderbird, Little Axe’s biggest appeal for newcomers to the area is its quiet atmosphere and peaceful residential privacy.
Ample acreage provides room to roam
Homes in Little Axe started to develop in the mid to late 20th century, with farmhouses, log cabins and ranch homes sitting among rolling acres of farmland and thickets of woodland. Space and seclusion are the big selling point here. It will be rare to find a property on fewer than 10 acres of land, giving the homeowners room to roam and to make the homes their own. Some have used the extra space for barns and livestock shelters, while others have chosen to build in-ground pools and basketball courts. Several of the homes are also situated behind gated entries, adding another touch of privacy. A 3-bedroom ranch home on 10 acres can sell for $415,000, while larger four-bedroom houses are available for $625,000 to $715,000. The highest price point in Little Axe can cross the $1 million mark for expansive ranches on more than 100 acres of land.
