Former mill town turned isolated neighborhood with recreation
Edgewick was established in 1906 as a mill town built by the North Bend Lumber Company. The area had 18 homes for its employees and three manufacturing mills. In December 1918, a large flood from Boxley Creek destroyed the neighborhood, and it became known to locals as the “Boxley Burst.” While the mills did not rebound, the town did over a century later and now refers to this infamous stream as Christmas Creek. Edgewick offers lots of privacy and recreation. The infamous creek now serves as a waterfront addition to some properties. “It’s not a main area, but generally, you’re moving there for elbow room. It’s more affordable, and you’re getting more property,” says Tonya Eliason, managing broker for the Cascade Team and a longtime North Bend resident.

Edgewick is relatively close to the numerous trails in the nearby mountains. Along the various trails of this park are the scenic Twin Falls and the Twin Falls Bridge. The 32-mile-long Snoqualmie Valley Trail also runs through Edgewick. “The Snoqualmie Valley Trail can connect trails that leads to other states, or it goes up to DuVall,” Eliason says. Rattlesnake Lake Recreation Area has a 4-mile trail and a lake ideal for kayaking and paddle boarding. “Rattlesnake Lake is popular; it’s one exit before Edgewick, but people can easily loop around,” Eliason says. Community Parks can be found in the main area North Bend city. Si View Park is home to the city’s community center and pool. Visitors can also take advantage of the city’s athletic courts and playgrounds. Winter activities can be found at The Summit at Snoqualmie. The area’s two mountains accommodate sports such as snow tubing, skiing and mountain biking.

Craftsman or contemporary properties are common, while ramblers are along the river. “Edgewick does back into the Snoqualmie River, and then you have Christmas Creek, which also has waterfront properties,” Eliason says. Properties by the river have a higher flood risk than those that are more inland. Homes usually range from $450,000 to $1 million. Larger homes with acreage are priced from $1 million to $2 million. The neighborhood has a 1 out of 10 CAP crime score, which is the lowest score possible.

All shopping and dining done in downtown North Bend
“There’s no restaurants in that area, so most people will head to North Bend,” Eliason says. South Fork is a trendy restaurant with an outdoor patio, which includes picnic benches, lantern lights and bonfires during the summers. Rent’s Due BBQ is the true definition of a hidden gem. This barbecue joint is only a smoker in a residential backyard. Despite its non-traditional location, locals come back for their meats and sides.
