Wilderness Rim is a residential development in the Snoqualmie Valley, about 5 miles south of North Bend. The name fits the setting; proximity to the mountains comes with scenery and recreational perks. "It's a really cool area. If I was commuting into Bellevue or Seattle, I'd take being out here over other locations. You get more seasons and snow than other places," says Bart Chmielewski, a real estate agent with Windermere Real Estate/PSK Inc.

Homes under a million dollars built in the 1960s to the 1990s
Many of the homes were built in the 1960s to the '90s. Ramblers and split-levels are among the options, and remodeled and renovated homes are typical. There are few houses on the market at a time, but prices over a year as of April 2025 were in the $600,000s to $800,000s. "You can still get a nice house on a nice piece of land for under $1 million. But that limit may soon be pushed. There are communities around Wilderness Rim that run $1.2 to $1.8 million," says James Doerfel, a designated broker with Prime Realty.

Transportation via the Cedar Falls Loop bus and Interstate 90
The neighborhood is wooded, with lots somewhat secluded amid stands of evergreens. Short or curving streets and cul-de-sacs reduce speeding. Although there are no sidewalks, the interior streets are walkable. Snoqualmie Valley Transportation's Cedar Falls Loop bus stops in Wilderness Rim, from North Bend to Rattlesnake Lake. Otherwise, it is a car-dependent community. The 34-mile drive northwest to Seattle can be taken along Interstate 90, which runs east of North Bend.
Interstate 90 connects Wilderness Rim commuters to work in nearby cities such as Bellevue.

The homeowners association for the development, the Wilderness Rim Association (WRA), has various volunteer committees. Private amenities for residents include Wilderness Rim Park, which has a playground, picnic tables and barbecue grills. A walking path at the park circles Brewster Lake, which is regularly stocked with trout for fishing. In 2025, the Playground Renewal Committee secured approval for a brand-new playground for Cascade Park. Residents stay alert to the presence of wildlife and, in particular, practice responsible garbage disposal to avoid attracting bears.The WRA also has a Neighborhood Safety Committee; Wilderness Rim has a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.
HOA meetings at the Chalet and events held in the community
Regular WRA meetings and gatherings are held at the Chalet, a venue also available by reservation for groups like the local Girl Scouts troop. Wilderness Rim events include the Fishing Derby at Brewster Lake, Neighborhood Block Party, summer concerts, monthly food truck events, an Easter Egg Hunt and community garage sales.
Numerous outdoor recreation areas and trails close by
Rattlesnake Lake Recreation Area, a mile or so south of Wilderness Rim, draws picnickers, hikers and mountain bikers. The lake, which spans over 100 acres, is used for swimming, boating, kayaking and fishing. Trails accessible from the area around the lake include Rattlesnake Ridge Trail, the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, a rail-to-trail route stretching 30 miles to Duvall. Stops along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail include Snoqualmie Falls and the Twin Peaks Bridge, one of the area's points of interest connected to the 1990s David Lynch television series, "Twin Peaks", which was filmed here. For skiing, there's The Summit at Snoqualmie, about 24 miles east.
Wilderness Rim locals can enjoy the refreshing waters of Rattlesnake Lake just a mile away.

The North Bend Premium Outlets; other shopping and dining options
People are likely to visit North Bend for shopping and dining. Those driving to town on 436th Avenue Southeast will pass the South Fork General Store and adjacent South Fork restaurant, which specializes in Pacific Northwest dishes and offers an occasional supper club with five-course dinners. In North Bend, retro Twede's Café draws fans of "Twin Peaks" ready to order the cherry pie and a "damn fine coffee." Safeway and QFC are some of the grocery options. Dozens of stores and restaurants are available at the North Bend Premium Outlets.
At the North Bend Trading Company, Wilderness Rim residents can stock up on local merchandise.

Snoqualmie Valley public schools graded A-minus by Niche
Students may attend schools in the well-regarded Snoqualmie Valley School District. Edwin R. Opstad Elementary School and Twin Falls Middle School earn A-minus grades from Niche. Mount Si High School also has an A-minus and offers dual enrollment college credits from institutions, including Bellevue College and the University of Washington.
Twin Falls Middle School welcomes Wilderness Rim students each year.
