White Oak East
Ranch-style homes
In White Oak East, homes flank quiet streets lined with mature sycamore and oak trees. Following a typical suburban layout, streets lead to looping cul-de-sacs and homes are often set back from the sidewalks. Most of these homes are midcentury ranch-style designs with open floor plans, or follow a raised ranch-style with attached garages. However, the community is also home to some Cape Cods and Colonial Revival deigns too. Single-family home prices typically range from $200,000 to upwards of $300,000, depending on the property's age and size. The community is also home to condo options, and units typically cost between $125,000 and $200,000. Buyers should note that some homes receive higher-than-average Flood Factor Scores because of their proximity to the West Fork Mill Creek.Northwest Local School District and St. Ignatius of Loyola School
Students can enroll in the public Northwest Local School District, which serves just over 8,500 students. Youth here start their schooling at Monfort Heights Elementary, which receives a B rating from Niche. The school boasts an active PTA that helps organize everything from a chess club to fundraisers. From there, students can attend C-rated White Oak Middle, home of science and drama clubs. Then it's on to B-minus rated Colerain High, known for its athletic programs. For private schooling options, A-rated St. Ignatius of Loyola School is inclusive of all grades from prekindergarten through twelfth.Blue Rock Park, nearby Mt. Airy Forest and churches
The community's Blue Rock Park is the go-to spot for recreation here. It features a playground and three soccer fields, which are popular among youth players. "White Oak East is also a place where you can grab a drink and watch the youth soccer game," Hildebrand says. The park's sheltered pavilion also offers a space for gatherings, while the nearby Northside Knights of Columbus recreational center features additional sports facilities for league play. For more time outdoors, Mt. Airy Forest is less than 3 miles away and spans 1400 acres, featuring trails that wind through hardwood forests and Ohio's only wheelchair-accessible public treehouse. The forest is also popular during hunting season. "Most people here also participate in activities based around their church," Hildebrand says.White Oak Coffee House, Langen Meats & Fine Wines and Crossroads Sports Bar and Grill
Retail shops and eateries line Cheviot Road, the community's western border. For a quick pick-me-up, the White Oak Coffee House is a go-to spot for locals and the coffee house features a bulletin board with "pay-it-forward" notes, encouraging people to buy a coffee in advance for a stranger or someone they know. A little further down the road, Langen Meats & Fine Wines has become known for its specialty burgers, while Crossroads Sports Bar and Grill offers wings and beer on tap. Less than a mile away, residents can shop for groceries at their local Kroger or stop by the Gold Top Dairy Bar, for dessert. The dessert bar is hard to miss since establishment's bright yellow roof serves as a beacon for all things dessert.Green Township Events: Winterfest and more
Residents can check out events hosted by Green Township. These include everything from an Easter egg hunt for the little ones to live music and fireworks on the Fourth of July. When Halloween rolls around, the township hosts trunk-or-treat festivities; and in December, there is Winterfest. Children take photos with Santa Claus, participate in cookie decorating activities and can even spot reindeer. The event also features carolers.Commute to downtown Cincinnati and more
White Oak East is a car-dependent community; however public transportation options through the Metro bus system are available. Many locals make the 10-mile commute into downtown Cincinnati via Interstate 75, where major employers like Procter & Gamble and the Great American Insurance Group are located. The University of Cincinnati and UC Medical Center are both about 8 miles away via Colerain Avenue. Those wanting to travel can take the 21-mile drive via I-75 to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
