Leafmore-Creek Park Hill
Neighborhood in North Decatur, Georgia
DeKalb County 30033
Ranch-style and split-level homes are abundant
Most homes in the neighborhood are ranch-style or split-level homes built between the 1950s and 1960s, says Holley. A handful of mid-century modern homes can also be found. Home prices currently range between $625,000 and $700,000. Long driveways and wooded yards are common. Along the edges of the neighborhood, inside gated communities, are some new construction luxury townhomes, generally selling at similar price points to the rest of the area.Swim teams and hiking trails nearby
The Leafmore-Creek Park Club has a pool and tennis courts. The club runs a swim team. “It’s a huge neighborhood draw,” says Holley, who swam competitively on the team and had his children do the same while they were growing up. Mason Mill Park, just south of the neighborhood, is a forest park with a playground and multiple hiking and biking trails. It is connected to the neighborhood by the South Peachtree Creek Trail.School choice within Dekalb County district
The Dekalb County district serves the area. Young children head to Oak Grove Elementary, which has an A-minus on Niche. Then they head to Henderson Middle School, rated B-minus, before finishing their education at Lakeside High School, which earns a B-plus. The Dekalb district has a school choice option that allows parents to apply to send their children to other schools in the district through a lottery process. Options include schools with Montessori or dual language immersion programs at the elementary level and high schools with early college programs. Holley says parents in the neighborhood are also increasingly choosing to send their children to any of the growing private schools in the area, which include both religious and secular institutions.Removed from traffic and close to major employers
Leafmore-Creek Park Hill is far enough removed from Interstate 285 that it does not experience its “crazy traffic,” Holley says, but still within a convenient distance to many large employers and amenities. Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are less than 5 miles away. Downtown Atlanta is less than 10 miles southwest.Upscale Southern food and live music at local dining favorites
There are multiple shopping areas and restaurants around the neighborhood. Most residents stop at Kroger or Publix for their groceries. Sprig, a locally owned farm-to-table upscale Southern restaurant, is popular for date nights or a weekend brunch with the family. Napoleon’s Grill, which features occasional open mic nights and live music, is also a neighborhood favorite. The massive Toco Hills shopping center is just across the street and has boutiques, bakeries, exercise studios and specialty stores.
