The roads and warehouses of North Houston
The two most important thoroughfares in North Houston are Tomball Parkway and Veterans Memorial Drive, on the west and east sides of the neighborhood, respectively. Both roads provide access to Sam Houston Parkway and North Freeway, which are direct routes to downtown Houston, 10 miles south, and out into the countryside. Most bus stops in this community line these two streets. North Houston’s northwest corner is home to multiple facilities and warehouses such as Amazon packaging facilities and the Home Depot MDC. “A lot of our tenants work at some of these facilities,” says Sabina Albarez, Property Manager at the local Willow Brook Apartments. “The rush to work mixed with school traffic can make the roads clogged in the mornings and late afternoons.

Its going down at Sam Houston Race Park
The Sam Houston Race Park is a local venue that brings thousands. “They have lots of events there to be sure,” says Albarez. “They have a few just about every month, but holiday events are some of the biggest.” Last year, the Sam Houston Race Park held an event called Dasher’s Lightshow. During the holiday season, visitors drove through a field of holiday artworks with string light tunnels and sculptures. Other events tend to follow a racing theme, like the 2024 Weiner Dog Races being held this February. Attendees will watch pint-sized pooches run while enjoying the park’s food and beverages.
